needing help!!!!!!!!

Hello, i have a question i have a 1989LX 4 banger converted to 5.0 i bought the car three years ago its has a 600 holley -barrry grant fuel pressure reg-3"dumps with the pipes running straight from the headers-stock heads-roller rockers-msd dist-msd 6al box-underdrive pulleys-t5 tranny-stock rear-electric fan, and i just purchesed a victor jr intake an was wanting to install it but its operating range is 3500to7500, an i was told that i would have to add a cam to get it to operate correctly so i was wondering if anyone has any ideas to wich would be a good cam i was looking at the f303 cam but i dont know if i would have to do any major mods to get it to work,but can someone give me a good site as to where i can buy it in a kit instead of just buying the cam an then all the other stuff seperate. sorry for the long post. thanks!

cam only comes separate.

I don't think you need a cam change for the intake. You can install as is, but a new cam would benefit you.

Which cam is a science in itself. Do you plan on doing heads? If so that could be a factor.

It sounds like you are going to snowball things on yourself. You got an intake manifold for the car that has nothing to do with how the powertrain is built. You got a single plane intake manifold made to flow huge volumes, best for higher RPM power at the sacrifice of low RPM torque, which is where most street driving occurs. If you get a cam that starts to make power at, say, 2,500 - 3,000 RPM you are going to need heads that will be able to flow huge volumes as well as a lower rear end gear that will enable you to be able to pull away from a stop. You will need to rev the engine higher when pulling away from a stop.

You say you have 3" dumps. What size is the rest of the exhaust?

The engine components all have to match the type of power (high RPM, low-mid, RPM) that you want to make. One "big" component on an otherwise small engine will throw everything out of kilter. If you are going to build a big (high flow numbers) engine then all the components of the car (heads, headers, exhaust, rear gear, tire size) have to be in line with that.

Also, if you are going to build I high rev, high RPM power engine then that 600 carb will choke it off. You will need a 725-750 CFM carb.
