I checked the gas cap, completely closed. When I fill up my gas tank completely it leaks really bad from what seems to be a gas line from the stem to the tank, but it does not leak any other time. I have a 2001 gt. Any suggestions or helpful advice would be very appreciated. Thank you Posted by: Aussie XAXB The way that the fuel system is checked for leaks is vacuum is applied where the cap screws on and the system is sucked down to about 29 inches of vacuum. If there are any leaks, such as in the fuel filler neck, the machine will get a reading of less than 29 inches of vacuum and will indicate a leak of raw fuel to the atmosphere. I would venture to say that the leak you mentioned it going to be your problem. There is a sensor in the system to detect when the fuel delivery system is open.
