315 tires on a 17 inch wheel?

Does any body know if a 315/35/17 will fit on my 94 GT???
I will be usining a 17x9 cobra r wheel??

Come on now, you can do this. Pull out the ruler and measure 315mm. What does it come out to? Now answer your question?

Yes a 315 will fit on a 9" wheel, it will buldge slightly.

Kenny a 315 tire is 12.4 inches wide.

As a rule you shouldn't go more than 2" wider than the rim, so a 315 would be almost 3.5" wider than the rim. It's not just looks but performance will suffer as the tire rolls over on itself during turns. It could also be considered unsafe as the bead can break as the tire rolls over in turns

Shouldn't. Doesn't mean you can't. It will fit, but it will be a drag tire and thats it the car wont turn b/c the tire will fold. I know the rule, my tires are 2.5" wider than my rims but hey, rules are meant to be broken.

The only tire that will fit "properly" is a NITTO drag radial, anything else is asking for problems. This questions has been exhausted and researched over and over......

295 is the widest I would go on a 9" wheel. Coincidentally, that's what I have on my rear 18x9s

I have run a 315/35 Nitto Dr on a 17x9 Cobra with out issue and think it look sweet the buldge is visible but not drastic and does not effect the handling of the car at all. The way the sidewalls are constructed on a performance tire such as the Nitt 555Drs there is no way they are going to roll. Just my opinion.
