Posted by: KartRacer39 Obviously there aren't because The Saleen comes with them, just proper Backspacing/Tire combo and should be okay! Here is what Saleen is using. Standard on the Extreme and optional on 3-Valves and SCs are ultra-high-performance Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, 275/35ZR20s up front with 9-inch wide wheels and 275/40ZR20s fitted to the 10-inch wide rear wheels. Fits all 2005 Mustangs. Posted by: Mustang5L5 If i had an 05+, these would be the 20" rims i would put on
Posted by: Rick Sample Those do look great on the 2005 Ford Mustang and they would be my rims of choice, too! Posted by: twebster72 I forgot about the saleen having 20's. Thanks for reminding me. I believe the saleens are also lowered right? Posted by: Aussie XAXB From the side it looks like it is on the old 10-speed bicycle rims to me. Then again....I remember the old 10-speed bikes. ![]() Steve Posted by: Rick Sample Quote:
Posted by: Aussie XAXB I'm ok with the 17, maybe 18 inch rims on them because it is a new car, but I still like to see rubber from the side. Steve Posted by: OldFart Quote:
A) They liked the way it looks. B) It is performance oriented. C) All of the above. So if you bought a V6 and just like the way it looks, but want it to look better (in your opinion - the only one that counts), go for 20" rims and super low-profile tires, etc. But if you popped large for the GT, you wanted some performance with your good looks, and you're likely not satisfied with the stock performance just like most of the rest of us. Beyond the fact that a larger wheel/tire combo is effectively going to change the gear ratio in the rear-end, the larger wheels/tires are going to weigh more than the stock wheels or the stock wheels with low-profile tires, and considerably more than a set of utra-light 17 or 18 inch wheels with low-profile tires. It all comes down to rotating mass. You may like the way 20" wheels look, but they are going to be slower than the stock or ultra-lights. The reason many of the major after-market Mustang builders (Saleen, Roush, etc.) are even going there is to fill up the wheel well and avoid lowering the car (which changes suspension geometry and needs other changes to overcome). So if you want the look, by all means go for it. But if you want performance, don't go there. You never saw a track car on 20" rims for a good reason. OldFart Posted by: Pony-Up I have 20" Boyd Coddington with 285/30-20's Rear and 265/35-20's in the front. Could have easily gone larger with the tires but they look and drive great!
