Can I gett a 500 hp 1999 Mustang V6 done?

I ask this because i went with my buddy to DYNO his 2003 Srt-4, the shop owner told us he can build us a 500+hp Civic with $12,000.00 that will do 9 SEC in 1/4 mile!

so my debate is if a 1999 Mustang can be done 500 hp with only $12,000.00?!?

Thanks everybody!

Yes, it can be done. Look at v6power.net in thier forums at some of the things being done.
Supersixmotorsports.com has a 4.3 stroker motor for approx 6K that will make 300 hp naturally aspirated, AND it can handle multiple power adders (nitros + turbo/supercharged)

Also look up "ford v6 challenge"

Speed , as always, is just a question of money, how fast do you want to go ?

Oh, ask the mech if the 12k includes the civic itself or do you have to come up with the additional 10k for the car. And also, dont expect a 9 second civic to have a long life unless you trailer it everywhere. Those motors arent meant to be daily drivers.....

Nobody realized just how hard it is to build a 9 sec or faster car. It's not that easy. There is no set HP number or cost with making a car run that fast. It all depends on chassis setup and engine HP.

I doubt a $12K civic will run 9's. Try looking at about 20-25K and don't expect to be driving it around to run errands

even after all the build up, anything that is that power enhanced is not a reliable daily driver.....

my car was fairly reliable, except when it caught fire.....and in the summer if i tried to run the ac it overheated, and i had to run the heater to cool it down....and of course there was all the little issues.....

honestly if i had it to do all over again i would have gotten a used 03-04 cobra....and then fixed it up as i got $$$, you can get a used one for 25k or so....

The 12K would just be in building an existing Honda to 500 hp including beefing up the chassis, I would suspect.

As for doing this with a 4 banger Honda or a 6 banger Mustang it will be a drag car, not one you are going to cruise on the street with. And if you flog it on a regular basis on the track it won't last long either. To get mondo power out of little cubes the engine has to spin faster and work harder than a big block V8. It can only take that for so long.
