Just wondering if I was not refreshing my browser or something. Anyhow, since Old Fart isn't around that much (sad to him go) I haven't seen much activity. Does anyone know if he gave up his car and got something new? Got to run. David Posted by: Rick Sample Interesting... I haven't seen much of oldfart around either. One of us should send him a message or something. Posted by: ExBamaGal I'll get right on it

Take care, DV Posted by: L_LOGIC Dave, I have a vista blue 06 V6 and I went with the razors to, but the gunmetal colored one. Those AR razors wheels are nice, I have 275/40/18 tires on them which gives the car that tuff look and they work well on these wet roads in rainy south Florida. The only downside to the tire size is front end handling, every little crack or pebble in the road makes the steering wheel move and sometimes I feel like I'll lose control. Once when cornering at about 50 it felt like the front was skipping or hopping around the curve and I might lose it at any minute. I sent oldfart an email today requesting any recommendations he may have to solve the front issues. Maybe he'll see this thread, get back on board and wake this forum up. ExBamaGal sent me a private message and after some thought, I decided to share my response with anyone interested. Here it is: I really appreciate your concern. I've enjoyed the site and the interaction with other like minded members. So what happened? I guess it started with having to take off the 62mm throttle body to get the car to run again (it suddenly went into limp mode and this was the only way to get it to run again and no amount of tuning has allowed it to be re-installed. I've tried no less than six times so far). In an attempt to off-set the loss of Hp and torque, I plopped down $1,100.00 for a BMR carbon fiber drive shaft - and it developed a vibration that destroyed my rear-end in less than 500 miles (and the rear end had just been rebuilt 2,500 miles befor that). The warranty replacement carbon fiber shaft was installed and $708.00 worth of new seals, bearings and gears in the rear-end ---- and that shaft developed exactly the same vibration and destroyed the rear-end yet again within 300 miles! So, another $530 in bearings and gears and I'm back to the stock driveshaft and the same crappy performance I was trying to enhance in the first place. All I really wanted to do was have a car that I could weekend warrior on the track and drive on the street the rest of the time. I've changed the entire suspension out three times to get it right (the springs no less than 5 times). I've dumped untold amounts of money into performance, only to have it go down a black hole and later have to reverse to stock to get the damn car to run without breaking down. I finally just got fed up. I've already purchased a daily driver (a Lincoln Mark VIII with the all aluminum block, aluminum head, 4 cam, 32 valve engine and every factory option available). And I'm awaiting delivery of a new Superformance S1 (damn hard to find, they only imported 56 of them to the US and stopped building them in 2004) But I found a brand new one with zero miles and can't wait to get my hands on it. It's both street and SCCA approved and is capable of winning right out of the box with no modifications whatsoever. (Imagine a twin-cam 4 banger that revs like a chain saw to 10,000 rpm. It has stock Brembo brakes front and rear and 260 hp in a 1350 lbs car. The power to weight ratio and the brakes are so good that it will go from 0 to 100 mph - and back to 0, in less than 10 seconds. That's faster than any Ferrari made for the street.) Here is what they look like http://www.winningcollection.com/gallery/album05 Not a daily driver by any means but you can drive it on the street when you choose to. Sadly, the GT will either be put back to stock and sold, or if I can get it fixed properly (and that's questionable) my son wants it so bad he's willing to sign over all rights to his first born child. I haven't made up my mind yet which way to go. Thanks for caring. Oldfart Posted by: Rick Sample Thanks for giving us an update and sorry for your troubles... we're just glad your alright dispite the troubles with the Mustang GT. The new ride looks pretty sweet... that must have costed a pretty penny.
Posted by: ExBamaGal Once again...thanks for the update. So good to hear things are okay other than the problems with the car! Posted by: nomad_dave Quote:
