Its automatic. Does anyone have an idea of what kinda 1/4 mile time I would be running with basic bolt ons. Like headers, exhaust, intake, pullys and maybe a chip. Would that make a decently quick 4.6 auto?? Posted by: Mustang5L5 Um it would be pretty slow. Stock it would prob run around mid 15's. Even with those mods it would barely break into the 14's. If you are going to get an automatic convertible, at least make it a 99+ PI'd 4.6L. The auto trans is improved as well as the power so it would be a mid 14 to high 14 second car stock. WIth bolt ons you could whittle it down to low to flat 14's. 5-spd coupe would be faster, but i can understand wanting a vert Posted by: 94gtstang50 Probably a 15 flat if that due to the extra weight. 15 flat stock? Posted by: 94gtstang50 15.5 stock, 15 flat with a cai, full exhaust, and pullies in decent weather (60's with 50%ish humidity). Posted by: badass98svt I'd say a low 15 second car WITH those mods. I owned a 97 GT coupe with similar mods. It was slow as shlt, well compared to the cobra that I bought after it. throw some 3.73 out back and you'll break into the 14s Posted by: Mustang5L5 Quote:
More like 15 flat with about $1000 in mods done to it. A better title for this thread is "How slow?"

I pretty much spent 1k to get my gt to hit 15 flat and another 1k to get it into the mid 14 range. Posted by: Mustangkid wow never mind, Ill keep looking. lol Posted by: badass98svt 96-98 stangs are commonly called "turds" over on mw. lol Posted by: bullitt5177 Yeah, those are the closest thing to the modern day Mustang dark ages. lol Posted by: nolimitblue99gt I would say mid-high 14's, not quite 15. Posted by: Cody1774 My 02 is slow.... If I can get back making some money, I plan on changing that. What would you all say my car is? Mid 14s? Posted by: badass98svt Depends Cody....can you drive the shlt out of it? with the 18s on there...high-mid 14s with dr's you should be able to muster up a low 14. I've heard of stock 99-04 gt's pulling 13.9s Posted by: Cody1774 Quote:
Posted by: badass98svt the 18s weigh A LOT more than the stockers. rotational mass is the worst weight to add to your car. It affects the performance the most. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Quote:
It doesn't work like that. Most of a wheels mass is it's rim, not the spokes. Now take two tires, one 17" and one 18". Same diameter overall and same exact weight (which is untrue because the majority of 18" wheels will be heavier) SIne the 18" are bigger, the rim is further away from the center hub of the wheel. The further away, the more energy it takes to spin. The closer, the easier. So all things equal, the smaller rim the easier to turn. This is why drag racers usuallyu try to stick the smallest rims they can on their car, to bring the center of mass closer to the wheel center. BTW..Stock with my '03 GT i ran a 14.1 with a 5-spd Posted by: Snov001 Quote:
When I was in the Heating business the last job we did was a radiant heat job for a company that builds race engines for all over the USA. I had to kiss his a-- but he agreed to pull my engine and put forged crank and all forged internals in the lower end. He is going to build it up like it was his own. He claims he can get me 450+ RWHP. I cut him a real deal on his heating system so he says It should cost me around 2500.00 to 3K. Later guys and let me know what you thinkk of "the plan" Steve Ford Mustang Archive Home | General Tech | 5.0 Mustang Tech | 4.6 Mustang Tech | 3.8 Mustang Tech | 2.3 Mustang Tech | Classic Mustang Tech | Appearance and Sound | Virtual Body Shop | Initiation | The Lounge | The Showroom | Site Suggestions | Mustang Talk | 2005 Ford Mustang | Ford Lightning | Racers Bench | For Sale | Wanted To Buy | Northeast | SouthEast | Central | MidWest | West Coast | NEBOC
