Anyway right after my voltage meter starts twiching and my factory stereo quits playing for 10 seconds, additionally the lights go real dim and the voltage meter drops to 4-6 volts. After that the voltage returns to in between 10-12 volts. This episode continues till I get home only about 1.5 miles. What could I have done or has anyone experienced this before. I would like to get a starting point in my trouble shooting so as not to spend all summer to figure this out. I just recently replaced the altenator with a direct replace from Advanced Auto. Also I have underdrive pullies........... Thanks all please respond here or direct at latt533@bellsouth.net. Oh yeah I am a 95 GT 5.0 pretty much stock with exception of full exhaust including headers and X pipe. It has 61,000 miles and one hell of a suspention Posted by: liquide Are you still running your factory stock installed Alternator , you might want to have that checked. I just had mine replaced year ago 93 lx 5.0 lasted long time. But i think i want to add at least a 100 amp one now im running the stock 75 amp. well hope that helps Liquide out Posted by: Mustang5L5 Sounds like your alt went out during the shift. Remove it and have it tested at a parts store Posted by: Aussie XAXB Mustang5L5 seems to have a handle on it. Steve Posted by: Calyp50LX You said the engine 'flashed' or backfired, do you think it was from the rear or the front of the vehicle that you saw the flash? Also, any drivability issues? Posted by: LATT533 This one will make you laugh........... I have my battery relocated in the trunk. I just got a new one cause my alt died and drained the battery shorting a cell in the process. Any way I replaced both and then experianced the problem. Well I was flat out in some mild twisties. What happened was the negative cable popped off the battery and shorted on the positive flashing my electrical system!!! The negative cable came loose because when I tightened her down I did not relize as the nut became tight the nagative terminal did not tighten yet, thus it was pretty loose. A few tight corners and a slight bit of play in the battery box led the cable to pop off. Now all electrical woes check out good and no further issues as of yet!! Now off to see Thumper Quote:
