Yo yo I have 93 LX headlight switch has burned up the plug and the switch gets hot. I have read this is common problem what seems to be overloading that plug? I have Lx model no Fogs , I have bought new switch had to order from texas mustang but havint installed it yet and i did find a new connector plug repair. I will need to splice that in. SO my question is will a new switch help? Did Ford redesign the switch for heat problems? Well let me know if anyone has EXP this problem. I HAD a 91 Burn to the ground due to that Igintion part faliure under dash burning up Mustangs, but my 93 has newer igintion now. SO i dont like electrical burning smells. ITs very hard to find wiring parts for my FOX . I have found used front harness on ebay complete harness all the way from fuse box and up front. I have to replace this soon cause i had dime get caught in lighter , damn that was really dumb!!!!!!! short out a slot in the fuse box and also it burned alot of the rear harness but i have replaced that.

You don't happen to have aftermarket headlights in do you?

The problem is the wiring ford uses is too small for the load the stock headlight pull. What you need to do is rewire the switch so it triggers a relay that closes contacts drawing power through 10Ga wiring directly from the battery. That will keep your switch from frying again and even make your headlights brighter as they are not trying to run through the puny undersized stock harness.

Yes i had bought smoked headlight kit it came with Xeon Headlights 5000 k i think they were i have now taken them out and went back to the Halogen bright white i think they are. I just got my new switch today and i got new plug to wire in to repair the burnt plug . well i think ill have to reaserach more on what you are telling me on rewiring the relays thanx alot il bet it was those Xeons that was sucking up the power in there. im gonna see if this new switch gets hot before i pull my dash apart again and see if it gets hot with my old Halogen lights in OK peace out liquide
