The stock pump for EFI puts out about 30-35 pounds and requires a return line. That much pressure is too high for the carb. You need either an electric fuel pump for a carb or you need to get a fuel pump eccentric and timing cover that accomodates a mechanical fuel pump. Check out this site for info on converting to a carb. http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/e...b/efi-carb.htm Steve Posted by: 81maroonhatch ive got the return line with the fuel pump but i would like to keep as much of the engine bay clean (so its not so cramped) and if it doesn't have to go in the engine bay then it won't but thx for lettin me know Posted by: 81maroonhatch what kind of timing cover will need and what kind of intake will i need to get (would it be the same as any 302motor) Posted by: Aussie XAXB If you are going to a carb any carb intake will work. Which intake depends on how you are building the engine, high end HP or street torque. Which cam you get also has an affect on choosing an intake. The different timing cover is only needed if you go with a mechanical fuel pump. If you are going to go with a 6 psi electric fuel pump then you don't need to worry about it. You don't need a return line with the low psi pump and a carb either. I just realized your car is an '81 and is already a carb'd engine, unless you are going to build a different engine. You should already have a mechanical fuel pump or an adequate elctric fuel pump. I would have thought your car would have come with a mechanical fuel pump already? Steve Posted by: 81maroonhatch nope this is a 81 clone 5.0. the original motor was a 2.3 they put an 88 5.0 ut of a crown vic im trying to get a 351 or a efi 302 thats in better condition Ford Mustang Archive Home | General Tech | 5.0 Mustang Tech | 4.6 Mustang Tech | 3.8 Mustang Tech | 2.3 Mustang Tech | Classic Mustang Tech | Appearance and Sound | Virtual Body Shop | Initiation | The Lounge | The Showroom | Site Suggestions | Mustang Talk | 2005 Ford Mustang | Ford Lightning | Racers Bench | For Sale | Wanted To Buy | Northeast | SouthEast | Central | MidWest | West Coast | NEBOC
