Hi folks can someone give me instructions how to replace my oil pan.

Posted by: 81maroonhatch

is the motor out of the car if so
1 Drain all oil out
2 if the motor is on the engine stand rotate the engine a 1/2 turn so oil pan is facing up (if this is a fox T-sump pan it will help to remove engine because you will never get it out because of the crossmember)
3 loosen or remove the bolts (if you plan on resuing these bolts clean them and check for anything questional)
4 put your pan bolts in a mason jar or coffee can
5 got to nearest auto stor and but new oil pan gasket (Specifi gasket, motor,1 piece rear main seal or 2 piece) (go with the 1 piece rear main seal if not already)
6 clean oil pan either use engine bright or gasoline rinse it and dry it
7 lay oil pan seal over the oil pan put the boilts throught the pan and the gasket to hold it in place
8 slowly start screwing in the oil pan bolts 1 at a time MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT CROSS THREAD
9 torque to manufactor specs
10 put in oil plug and fill with oil
11 drive around the block and park in driveway with motor ideling and chek for leaks.

This will not be possible for me to follow these instructions. The engine is NOT out of the car. I need more specifics on removing the pan.

a fox style pan is impossible to get out withe the motor still in the car you may have to fina another way

You have to lift the motor somehow. Rent an engine hoise from a rent a tool place if you can. You can try to lift the engine 4-6" if you can but it will still be a PITA. Easiest way to do it with engine still in is to drop the k-member....and that's not easy either

Take your pick...pull engine, or drop K-member (while holding engine with a hoist)

Dropping the K member would be quickest.
