My AC blows really hot air, and I have no idea why. I bought it used with 106,000 miles on it and don't know much about what the guys who owned it before me did to it besides exhaust.

Turn on the A/C, does the compressor kick in inside the engine bay?

You may be low on R134A and need a recharge...but most likely that's due to a leak.

I will hear it kick on right?
I will check again tomarrow, but I am pretty sure I've never heard it.

Engine rpms will also drop for a second when it engages.

Just easier to pop the hood and look at it.

A/C compressor is lower pass side. You'll see 3 circles on the hub. They should be still when off and cycle on and off when the A/C is on.

It does not come on, but until the engine warms up it will blow cold air. As soon as it gets warm though, it blows hot air.

It's just blowing cold air because the heater core didn't warm up yet.

If the A/C compressor isn't kicking on, then it's not working. Most likely it's low refridgerant.

They have tracers that you can put into the system to detect leaks. Then you can fix the leak (usually dried out o-rings) and refill the system. It's pretty easy and they sell the cans of R-134A over the shelf for $7 a can. There will be an underhood sticker telling you how much freon and oil you need to add but i would fix any possible leaks and have a vacuum pulled on the system first.

Or just bring it somewhere to be fixed
