dash lights

I'm having a problem with the dash lights they will come on randomly i think it may be the dimmer switch because when every i move it around it will randomly work then go right out any suggestion on what to check or should i just replace the dimmer switch

What do the other light do witrh the dimmer? Radio/heatercontrols etc?

Mine do this sometimes too but I think it was a wiring problem. We've added fog lights and new gauges so I think that's what caused it.
