Bought the 1996 Mustang convertible with factory V6 3.8 setup, the car came without engine/tranny... I was going to swap to GT 4.6 Engine/tranny..........after all of the thinking and some information gathering so far.... i am more leaning toward putting the 2000 V6 3.8 in. How much work do i have to do as far as the wiring connection(are they compatible connectors and do i have to do any more wiring due to the intakes manifold differences)... and can i use the AT tranny from the 1998 with 2000 V6 & 2000 ECU? Any help would be great before i purchase the engine and tranny.

i think the hardest part with the swap is the custom fuel rails that are required

99+ are returnless fuel system
pre99 are return fuel system

it is always good to get a tune after a change like that

you can reuse your tranny i belive

i think you can just swap heads/intake instead of the whole engine....

Hey thanks Kissajew86 for the info. As far as the fuel line.... what procedure do i take, eliminate the return line or any more information will help. The engine from this car is gone... i bought the car without an engine or tanny.

thanks,
John
