I know, I know, I have to stop stopping so much! Anybody have a wheel cleaning secret recipe? Posted by: Mustang5L5 I use simple green on my wheels. I just did the backsides of the wheels yesterday. I've already used SG with a couple diff nylon brushes and a terry towel, too. This stuff is really bad. Posted by: Rick Sample I cleaned the inside of my wheels a few weekends ago, the 1st time in about 5 years! I used kerosene and the brake dust melted off! Looks like new! Posted by: MCRPARTS Quote:

How did you apply the kerosene, Rick? Some of the brake dust I want to remove is on the finish, as well as the backside/inside. Posted by: Rick Sample Quote:
Posted by: Whiplash1987 BRASO Pretty sure you can get it in the states too. Like Home Hardware or Home Depot or some place like that. Posted by: Aussie XAXB All my life I always muscled it with chrome cleaner and elbow grease. Last year I bought a spray bottle of chrome rim cleaner that has some kind of acid in it and waited 15 seconds before rinsing it off and it just impressed the heck out of me. With the exception of a couple exceptionally nasty spots it cleaned them right off. I still go over them with polish and a rag to get rid of the streaks and for the perfect shine, but otherwise it really ate up the brake dust. Steve Posted by: Cody1774 Quote:

Taking my rear wheels off this weekend to clean for the carshow next week! Posted by: BIGJ Adams Metal polish number 2!!!! Posted by: 94gtstang50 Use Fltiz, you can get it on ebay and it works GREAT. Great for taking the yellowing off headlamps, shining up the stock stainless tips, and awesome on wheels. Posted by: Rick Sample Any luck on the project? What all did you use? Posted by: Rick Sample kerosene won't hurt paint or the wheels and it got my wheels nearly 100% clean. Their may of been a spot or two that wouldn't come up, that's understandable since my wheels haven't been cleaned in 5+ years. Posted by: afunkingenigma i used the meguiars wheel brightener put it in a spray bottle it melted off all the brake dust and grim. i dont drive my car much but my dad he drives about 50-60 miles a day to work used it on his and they looked like new wheel after i was done Ford Mustang Archive Home | General Tech | 5.0 Mustang Tech | 4.6 Mustang Tech | 3.8 Mustang Tech | 2.3 Mustang Tech | Classic Mustang Tech | Appearance and Sound | Virtual Body Shop | Initiation | The Lounge | The Showroom | Site Suggestions | Mustang Talk | 2005 Ford Mustang | Ford Lightning | Racers Bench | For Sale | Wanted To Buy | Northeast | SouthEast | Central | MidWest | West Coast | NEBOC
