Headrest removal 99-04???

How do you remove these headrests??? I've tried and tried but they won't come out.

You need something long and thin sort of like a slim jim. A hacksaw blade might work. Slide it down the front side of the headrest shaft til you hit something. Push under it and then twist slightly while pulling the headrest out.

I know on Fox seats you can unzip the bottom of the seatback and slide your hand up with a screwdriver under the latch to twist. Unsure if the new GT seats do the same.

I'll find out shortly as soon as i dye my halo headrests dark charcoal to match my seats.

got the drivers side out but cannot get the passengers side, used a clothes hanger.

you need something flat, like the hacksaw blade already mentioned. that's what i use. i have the Halo headrests too. I think i may have started the halo trend, lol. i've had them in my cobra for close to 3 years now. they look so much better than the stockers. however, they are useless, as far as resting your head. lol

I used a coat hanger. A hacksaw blade just seems like a good way to remove a finger or two.

Slide the coathanger down the groove in the front of the headrest shaft. When it stops, push it SHARPLY down and you should feel something "click" -- it's like a button or tab that holds the shaft in place. It should then slide out fine.

By the way: You'll have to pull the plastic insert out of the seat too -- the Halo's shaft is a little wider than the stockers and the plastic is there to take up the extra space.

finally got them out. look good, but a little darker color than the medium parchment, but I love them.

I've looked into leather covering mine but it's just too damn expensive
