If so, then how much power can they handle? Posted by: Mustang5L5 265 ft-lbs on the V8 240 ft-lbs on the 4-banger They can handle more if the trans isn't abused. I've heard of guys with 300HP driving around with 4-banger t-5's no prob Posted by: StuStang Can they be modded to accept more power? Posted by: speedytang They have different internals as in size and strength to handle the torque of a V8. It is cheaper to get a V8 T5 because of the gear clusters and cost of used and new parts. You can find a good 5.0 T5 for $350 and also have a better gear ratio for a V8. Posted by: Wayne S Most people that I know who run more power through a t5,, Use a weeker clutch so the clutch takes the abuse not the tranny... I know guys who run liberty pro shifted t5s and they will run a spec1 clutch.. Wile say some one with a tko would run a spec3 etc..
