I called MGW ,but their shifter will not be done till fall.So I ordered a Pro 5.0 Any tips, hints that will make the install easier, before I get it?? Posted by: Snov001 I used a steeda Triaxe and it was a snap. Take a look at Steeda. They are the only one that I know of who sends sound deadening gaskets for both the base and the shifter splice too. Mine is really quiet and you can't miss that 2nd to 3rd gear shift. Its preloaded to line you up for that shift. My wife who we nicnamed crash even cant miss that shift. Just my 2 cents Steve Posted by: langod YOu'll be happy with any of the big three -- MGW, Steeda, Pro5.0. Everyone (mostly) likes what they have -- and they all seem to have some setup for reducing missed shifts. My MGW has a similar setup as what Snov001 is talking about above. As far as tips go, all shifters should go in pretty much the same. The only "difficult" part is sometimes getting the old shifter's gasket to release. (You might have to put the handle back on so you can whack it side-to-side a few times.) When it does come off, make sure you cover the "hole" with something when you scrape off the old gasket -- you don't want any of the crap to fall in the tranny. Posted by: bullitt5177 05-06s have quite a bit more difficult shifters to install then 99-04 Langod. You have to drop the tranny to do it if I remember correctly. There was an article about it in an old MM&FF I think. Posted by: langod Holy crap! You're kidding me! ![]() That sucks. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Yup, they have a remote shifter like FWD cars that mounts the shifter backwards a foot and raises it to a more confortable level. It bolts onto the stock shifter location of the 3650 Posted by: Blackmagic1 No you don't drop the trans, just the front drivshaft to access the bolts for the shifter. Plus there are no gaskets to scrape ,like the old models.
