I gold is to get the engine and power above average then exhaust. My immediate issue is excceleration. once the engine is warn I get almost nothing, no power, acceleration, just a low muffled sound, alot of cutting out. I have to turn it off and restart to get going agtiain. on please give some sugestion thanks Posted by: 94gtstang50 Probably a combo of clogged cats and a 6 banger. Posted by: Rick Sample I don't think it has much to do with it being a V6. I think mine has great pickup and go for a V6. To me, it sounds like he is having alot of trouble keeping the car running and when it is running, it's running so slugish because their is a major loss of power somewhere throughout the engine. I'd take it to a shop to have a professional look at it to see if it is fixable and how much it would cost. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Run the codes and do a tuneup. Get engine 100% before doing any performance mods Posted by: kissajew86 when was the last time you changed air filter/plugs? is the check engine light on? what about spark wires? i agree, just do general maintanance and get the car running good, then we talk power how many miles on the engine? Posted by: 94gtstang50 You probably should do ALL the fluids, and pulling the motor apart and rebuilding it would do it a lot of good. If the check engine light is on and yyou get bad response it could be any number of things. I have had a clogged cat problem on both my 94 and 88 and on the 88 it did sound muffled, had no power and would just die like you were saying. I just took a sledge to the cat, lol. Worked better after that. Try taking your exhaust apart and off and see if the cats look covered. First do the normal tune up stuff though, plugs, cap, rotor, wires. Do a compression check too to make sure all of the cylinders are firing. Posted by: houg if the cats are clogged, would muffled sound and bad preformance be continous. It really after running or driving for about 20-30 minutes. quote=94gtstang50]Probably a combo of clogged cats and a 6 banger.[/quote] Posted by: 94gtstang50 any oil or coolant in your intake manifold? Or is your exhaust blueish in color? Posted by: Mustang5L5 Cats rarely clog. The car would have to be running pig rich for a long time for that to happen. I'd look elsewhere. Like i said, check the basics like plugs wires, cap rotor, fuel filter, timing, pull codes, etc. Posted by: 94gtstang50 I clogged my cats by having part of the egr not connected, causing the car to run rich pretty soon the CEL came on, car went into limp mode and was running at like 1/4 of the power, I threw on the o/r h and it was fine. Inspected the cats and they all had a nice layer of soot covering them to the point at which I could not see the pinhole of light on the other side at all.
