Driveshaft too long?

I ordered a custom drive shaft and it seems they made it exactly to specs, not leaving the 3/4'' to 1'' play needed for axle travel. I could be wrong but I can't get the u joints past the cener bolt in the diff to bolt them on. I really don't want to have to send it back or risk them saying they did everything I asked and refuse to redo it if it's even wrong. What suggestions do you have for geting it on?
Should I try cutting off a bit of the slip yoke? Grind down the bolt on the diff? Try to move the axle back?

Since a lot can be lost in writing let me clarify a couple things.

You say you can't get the U-joints in, plural. Does this mean that the yoke, front u-joint, and shaft are not yet assembled? This should be assembled already before you begin your installation. Then slip the yoke into the tranny and then assemble the rear joint assembly.

If you specified the length on the shaft the company that made it for you would fabricate it exactly to that dimension. They will not assume anything and go by the spec's given. If you did not allow for a certain amount of slippage in the yoke going into the tranny to give yourself room at the rear to mount the u-joint then that is on you.

You could even have the rear u-joint mounted on the shaft already and with the tranny in neutral rotate the shaft to get the rear u-joint to line up with the differential yoke.

Let me know the details on these things, then we can continue from there if the problem is not resolved.

BTW, if you left the same C4 tranny in there you didn't need to do anything with the driveshaft unless you built a world beater engine.

Yes the entire shaft is assembled. The company is the drive shaft expert not myself and should make the necissary adjustments to thier product. They gave a specific fill in the blank mesurement sheet wich mentioned no calculations to be made by the customer, simple measere from point A to point B and put write measure here ___ . As it turns out they did make the proper adjustments themselves. My problem was that the slip yoke was not going all the way into the tranny. At eh behest of the company I lightly hammered the old worn, leaky one into the tail shaft to remove any possible burs after which the new one went all the way in fine. I just hope the tranny didn't suffer any damage from the beating. No indacation of it today at least. If so I plan to upgrade it soon anyway, hence the stronger driveshaft.

Thank you for your advice.
