Car radio question

Well my sony CD player is crapping out in the stang.What are some good decks out there right now,kinda outta the loop on this.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to take a trip to best buy to get me a new deck this summer. My Sony Xplode system is starting to really sound terrible. Plus it's about 7 years old lol.

Not to happy with my SOny either.The CDs pop out they won't go in,the deck shuts off

How are the Alpines and Clarion decks

Alpine makes a good product. My buddy lives by them. He's a big stereo guy too. I have a Sony XPlod and have never had any problems with mine.

JVC is a very well built unit and their prices are very reasonable. i've had 1 in my last 3 stangs with zero problems.

For my next head unit, I was thinking Alpine or Pioneer. Nothing wrong with Sony Xplodes, just the new style of those don't really get my attention any.

just remember that the Pioneer they sell at WalMart is not the same quality you'll find at a stereo shop.
imo, pioneer's standards are decreasing rapidly. A lot of other companies like Kenwood, JVC, and Sony are stepping up

it depends on what features you are looking for and how much you are willing to spend, Alpine, Clarion, Pioneer, and Panasonic all make good hu in about any price range, i dont like many kenwoods but some of their high end models are nice if you want direct xm, ipod, and accesory hookups. I like panasonic as the best overall hu they have great sound features and looks, the pioneer have the best displays, the clarion have the most features (on high end models) and the alpine are best sound.

if you want any specific info and help finding pricing let me know i work for appalachian audio we are a alpine, pioneer, and clarion dealer (im not trying to sell just offer info)

had an alpine was very displeased with it,,replaced it with a pioneer i got at wally world but it was the most expensive one they had..which might i add was at a local stereo shop for a 100 dollars more..and its been in my other car for a few years now.and is doing well

I have the Kenwood KDC MP-4028 and I love it. Lots of options and good sound quality. I've had it since September and no problems yet.

most are good these days, get one with mp3 capabilities, and let me know when you are ready, I can help/install this for ya.
On a personal note I prefer the Clarion,
and MAKE SURE to get it at www.crutchfield.com
its fast, cheaper, and comes with the wiring harness free!!

A lot comes down to what you want to spend. It will also depend on your specific application. I have worked a lot with car audio and I think I can give you some good advice based on previous experience. I have worked with all sorts of brands such as JVC, Clarion, Alpine, Panasonic, Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, JL, MTX, Kenwood, and have spent insane amounts on steroes. If you are interested in my opinion, let me know a price range, what kind of capabilities you are expecting, and any other questions.

I have not bought a JVC anything since the early 1980's and they were only ok then.

I bought a Sony Explode for my wife's 1966 Mustang this year and it is amazing. I am an old school fan of bass in music, it gives the music body. I am not talking about "Whump Whump" sub-woofer special effects base, but rather musical value, quality bass (16 - 80 hz), and the Explode is the only one I found in a median price range that gives that.

Cooincidently I was flipping through stations and caught a tune that had sub-woofer type base and, even without a sub-woofer, I got the whump whump sound. That says something for the speakers I put in the car. But for full bodied, musical range deep bass I can't beat this Explode.

i had a jvc unit when i got the car but didnt like it to much i put a sony xplode in there had great sound feat were good in it then it went bad cds wouldnt play it would just spit them out then face plate wouldnt sit right so when you hit a bump it would turn off i never took the face off like you could do..now i got a clarion head unit with the flip out screen dvd player this thing is great i have my ipod on it no trying to change songs on a little screen well moving throw traffic or trying real fast at a stop light the head unit is easy to tweek to get it just the way you want it there so much stuff you can add to it its insane i would say if you have a few bucks get the clarion proaudio vrx755vd the install was pretty easy had little problem with wireing it cause theres alot of wires called there tech line and they talked me through how to fix it (had a wire crossed it kept blowing the fuse) i also changed out the factory speakers to pioneers the sound is great i got it all from crutchfield.com
