Everything seems to be working fine, except there is no movement in the meters. Nothing is dialing. Speedometer, odometer, gas, oil, temperature & battery meters are not moving... Anything I need to adjust? Could it be a fuse? Help !!!!!!! I peferctly followed all instructions. Including disconnecting the battery before installation. Posted by: kissajew86 i would double check he connection int he back of the gauges first...... Posted by: Mustang5L5 sounds like not plugged in correctly Posted by: rene316 I called the Ford dealership (service department) and they said that the computer might be off, since I disconnected both, the negative & positive poles of the battery. And the car's computer needs to be "told" that there is a new gauge in the system. I don't know... That sounds like they just want to get paid. It costs 90 bucks just to plug it in... What do you guys think? The bezel is connected to two harnesses. I will, check the inside plugs and make sure there is no plugs bent or something like that. Any advise is appreciated... Will keep you guys posted. Posted by: kissajew86 just curious, do you have the pats system in your car? Posted by: rene316 Nothing aftermarket... Just factory... For now... That's BS. Replacing the gauge faces with aftermarket peices has nothing to do with the computer. It's just a simple mattery of swapping faces and that's it. WHat exactly did you do? Did you pull the needles out? Posted by: rene316 I disconnected the negative, then the positive pole off the battery. Then, I removed and disconnected the bezel, following the instructions of the Hanes Book. After removing the meter hands, I switched the gauge faces and plugged everything back up. Installed back following reverse order of instructions... The only thing different was that I had to strip a wire to get power for the glowing effect in the new gauge face. However, I got power from one of the wires for the headlights pull out switch. As mentioned before, everything works, panel lights, the factory PAT syst. indicator, including the brake light, seatbelt & new gauge face lights... Except the meter hands are not moving. I did not pull out the needles. After checking everything over and over again, I plugged evrything back in without the hands. I started the car. Left it running for about 5 minutes. Then shutdown the engine. I left it alone for an extra 5 minutes. I put the hands back in the needles in the zero position and started the vehicle once again. The odometer and the temp meter did not moved. The speedometer went up to 20 and everything else moved up half way. By the way, I got a full tank of gas... I drove it around the block and nothing seems to happen to the meters. The funny thing is, that after turning off the engine. Everything stayed as mentioned before. So, is there something that I'm missing? Is there a way to adjust the meters to where they are suppose to be? Or might it be a sensor that it's not working? Posted by: Mustang5L5 Well, the volt, oil and batt needles will move to halfway when the engine is running. The water temp will also move to halfway but only after the engine is warm, so if you start your car and get it hot, you will then know to put the needles for those 4 gauges in the middle of NORMAL. As for the tach, when you shut the engine off it will then fall to 0, so you can place the needle then. You shouldn't have to press too hard, just push them in place and then check to make sure they are right before pushing them in snug. As for MPH, with the engine on at a stop put the needle to 0. Are the gauge faces interfering with the needles at all? Are they stickup up causing the needles to bind? I know when it's very cold out my tach needle will bind on my gauge faces until the interior warms up slightly. Been meaning to fix it by pulling the needle up slightly but been to lazy. Posted by: rene316 No, they're not sticking at all... I'm gonna pull everything out and put it back together again to see what happens... I'll keep you posted. Posted by: rene316 Well, they were too tight. That was the problem. Thanks everybody... Will post pictures soon!!!! Posted by: badass98svt what was too tight? the needles, right? Posted by: rene316 I pushed the meter hands too far down in the needles... Posted by: 94gtstang50 Yea I was going to suggest that, had the same problem on my gauge layovers, and I just moved the needles out a hair and they worked fine. Posted by: ExBamaGal Don't know how many of you know this but here's a little trick to try to make sure your needles are where they are supposed to be when the vehicle is running. A friend told me about it and we used it to set my speedo when we replaced the gauges. With the car turned off, press and hold down the button that resets your trip (I don't know the official name for this thing lol). Once it lights up, crank the car. You should be able to push it several times, each time it gives you different information. You can ride down the road and see how fast you are going, then place the needle where it needs to be. Someone told me that this will also pull trouble codes but I don't know how true that is as I've only played with it once. I'm also not sure on what all kinds of information it will give you but it goes through a lot of stuff when you keep pushing that button. Just a little something I learned

Posted by: ExBamaGal Oh ok...wasn't sure about that one. Thanks. Posted by: langod Mustang5L5 is right -- it doesn't display OBDII codes, but it does show a several other "status" codes. Mustang world has a good how-to article on it along with a list of codes. Posted by: ExBamaGal Thanks for posting that list langod. I was curious on what all it showed. Somehow I missed that one on Mustang World.
