Can I use a 225/60/16r tire instead if 225/55/16r without trouble from ABS or shift points on 96 G.T auto o.d?

You're going to need a speedo recalibration.

If you change the size you need it to do it on all 4 wheels.

Also, the speedo will be off and the car will look jacked up slightly because the tires will be bigger.

WHat are you trying to do??

Posted by: darmon

Just looking at all options, from old school and would like Little more tire then wheel. I went to 1010tire for the specs and could live with the speedo being off 2 mph, but will go with the standard tire and wheel package that is out there with all the feedback I have gotten from everyone here. Would like to thank all of you for your input.

Why are you going with such unwide tires? I know thats the stock size, but I upgraded first chance I got to 245's, its a world of difference.

im also wondering why you would do this... not saying dont do it, thats up to you, but it will be less performance due to it being alittle heavier and more rotational mass/intertia since its further out from the center.... you should have a smoother ride though

Please tell me this is a ok choice and they would fit, 2005 bullit/ bullet take offs with 235/55/17s? Thanks again for all the input.

Are the tires for stock Bullit 17"X8" wheels, or stock 94+ 16X...8? wheels?

The offset on the 05+ wheels is deeper. When put on a 2004-older car, they will look sunken in. You can use spacers, but make sure you upgrade to hardened studs.

Also the tires will be much taller.

Stock tire diameter is 25.7", with these tires you'll be 27.2" tall and your speedo will be off 5.8%. When you are doing 64MPH, your speedo will read 60MPH

Thanks for the info. I'll have to pick a set of wheels I like and I know that will work with no hassles.

Just get some regular Bullitt 17x8s (which you can buy on this site), and mount 245s on them.

The 60 series is 26.629 inches tall.

The 50 series is 25.744 inches tall.

The difference is .885 inches, or about 7/8 inch difference in overall tire height.

Since only one side (the bottom) of the tire is supporting the car, that means the car will sit about 7/16 inch lower than it did on 60 series (or higher if you were running 55 series).

Even this small amount of difference will make a difference in your odometer, but I wouldn't think it will adversly affect your shift points. Think about all the pick-up truck crowd that make massive changes in tire size with no ill effects.

You should also understand that going to a smaller than stock tire diameter is just like changing the ring and pinion gear from say a 355 to a 373. The engine will wind up faster on a shorter tire because the effect is just like changing gear ratio. If you change to a taller tire, just the opposite occurs, the engine will have more load and wind up slower.

Hope this helps.

Thanks again to everyone on the input and info on the wheels & tires. I am going to go with a 235/55/16 tire and a silver bullit wheel. This should fit fine and give me some of the look I was after. Thanks again to everyone.

Posted by: Mustang5L5

I hope that was a type...you have a 16" tire and 17" wheel

Posted by: darmon

I went to discount, walmart, sam's club and the tire rack and they all show tires in that size.

Posted by: Mustang5L5

yes but bullitt wheels are 17"

proper size for them is 245/45/17

Posted by: darmon
