Now I have driven it again and Im loving the way it looks and will lokk once I get my bumper and grill installed. So Im now thinking about keeping it and since Ive been paying my car off so fast, I should be able to save up for performace mods very quickly also. I was wondering what you guys would recommend in the way of superchargers vs turbochargers.... how is the gas mileage on either? I know turbos are using wasted energy and turning it back into more energy so I would expect the same or even alittle better mileage and you could also add an underdrive crank pulley. With a supercharger kit you also get an intercooler which makes the air colder which should make more power, but I would assume it weighs more. It also is another pulley on your engine, increasing drag and taking power as its making power. You also can not add an underdrive pulley because it would lower your boost and power. I was also wondering about the powerpaks that offer ported intakes, cam, ported cylinder heads, and claim up to 70hp increase. I am planning to add maybe about $6,000 more after I pay off the car, not including the other mods Ive done. Powerpak worth it? up 70-90HP for $1,800-$2,400 plus sper/turbocharger ~$3,700... (super w/ intercooler and turbo with controller and blowoff valve) The supercharger is an 11psi kit which I think atmospheric pressure is 14.3 at sea level... so if about 70% efficient should add alittle over 100HP 11 psi boost =~ +77% power * 70% effiecient = ~54% power increase or to about 293 from about 190 stock. and with the power pak which for the stage 3 (supercharger/turbo) says adds up to 90HP... so I'm hopeing for aroung 370HP crank from these mods is 370HP acurate for a supercharger and powerpak? plus exhaust which would free up about 15hp, underdrive pulley if turboed, and 1.8 roller rockers or 1.73s with roller tip with larger cam should add about another 10hp. so I'm hopeing to get around estimated 400HP crank with turbo/supercharger, exhaust upgrades, and roller rockers. would I need much else with this setup? would I have to upgrade the fuel system to make this power? I am pretty sure I would need a new mass air and possibly throttle body right? how would my trans be feeling with all this extra power? would I have to upgrade trans? and the rear? would I have to get a GT rear end? would I need copper head gaskets? trans cooler? more? thankyou for any help. I have done research but that doesnt answer everything, Im looking for feedback from those who have done similar mods and know what its about and which is 'better' or safer for the long term life of the engine. I dont plan on going crazy with the car (as in speeding everywhere) and Im not doing rims, so I wouldnt need a brake upgrade. I would only push it alittle when I needed it and to surprise a few people. Just want the power for when I want the power. So engine safety and longevity as well as gas mileage are also at the top of my list, not just all out performance. I usually drive very slow in my stang, the speed limit or sometimes under it on the highway. I like to spend as much time in my stang with every mile I put on it, not do 120mph everywhere, quickly rack up the miles and be in it half the time while causing more damage to it.
