Has anyone tried filling their tires with nitrogen yet? I'd like some pros and cons of your experiences.

nope, thinking maybe you would die or float away into the sun... ill leave the testing up to the professionals

That subject was just on the national news this morning, talking about the advanages of increased gas mileage. Some said they would never go back to regular air. Said that that's what a lot of the racers are using to regulate air pressure better.

Heard a lot of good things about it. Haven't had a chance to try it

The use of nitrogen works well in racing due to tire pressure will not deviate. Nitrogen = inert gas / Compressed Air = 71% nitrogen and 18% oxygen and 1% other the oxygen will cause normally inflated tires to rise in pressure as they heat up.

I use Nitrogen in KartRacing for that reason only, Nitrogen = same tire size and grip properties.

So to somewhat answer your question, Nitrogen would improve Gas mileage due to the fact the tires would not over heat and air pressure grow. JMO though

Nope, don't think I ever will

I have to do some research on this to find out about it, but if you're driving on the highways and your tire pressure goes up due to heat this will equal a harder tire with less roll resistance which will equal higher fuel mileage. So nitrogen on a street car would not seem to be a help.

i still fear the sun

You are right.

I think the nitrogen is to keep the pressure from changing therefore keeping the contact patch constant resulting in predictable handling

Yup. Sounds suited well for roadcourse racers, not practical on the street.
