I have 66' 289 2bl mustang completely stock and now I have a blown head gasket so I have dcided to rebuild my engine with some high performance parts. I have bought this edelbrock pakage that comes with a carb, intake manifold, cam, and lifters. Next i'm planning on buying some rocker arms but not sure what brand and a timing chain also I've been thinking about some heads but i'm not sure if too put bigger pistons or just get another pair of heads. As you can see I'm not sure how too get started, and two more things hedman or hooker headers? and flowmaster or magnaflow?

Thanks in advance for any advice on my rebuild project.

I'll do some research on the heads but depending on the casting number you may have some great heads already. The 289 was an excellent engine and my wife's was excellent on power even with only a 2 bbl carb. The Edelbrock kit should work very well for you. I'll be back with more input later when I have more time.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

Nice street engine. Lots of "standard" modifications. Evidently I was too occupied to look into those heads. Sorry 'bout that.
