I didnt know they made carbon fiber bumpers, but I found this site's ad in a crumpled magazine that was used to pack my CAI from demolet.com.

they are fairly expensive, but very light... if your car was hit as I know some people here's have been. You could try to get these instead of a stock or differant style bumper.

I dont know how good it would look, but you'd be about half carbon fiber with the bumpers, hood, deck lid, wing... im sure someone makes carbon fiber fenders. then you just have the doors and roof pretty much and saved alot of weight. should look decent on a black car. or paint it.

the '03 cobra bumper in their ad states weights at...
fiberglass - 18lbs.
carbon fiber - 11lbs.
probably over 15lbs savings over stock urethane... not sure of that weight.

the 87-93 Lx bumper in their ad states weights at...
fiberglass - 16lbs.
carbon fiber - 10lbs.

if you have the money or someone elses insurance is paying... the carbon fiber ones may be a good idea for weight savings. i know fiberglass sucks for bumpers, idk how carbon fiber stands up or easily repairable it is.

To be honest, I'm not sure I'd trust it. I don't think that you would notice any huge difference from the weight reduction of under 10 lbs. They have expensive taste though! A carbon fiber 1987-1993 Mustang LX front bumper cover is almost $1,100 + shipping! I think their overpriced, a regular fiberglass 1987-1993 Mustang LX bumper cover is 695.00 + shipping. I think you could get a Ford OEM one for half that

yea the fiberglass is bs, but i dont know anywhere else that sells carbon fiber bumpers, so that price seems fair.

if you switch each body panel to carbon fiber you could probably save around 75lbs+ or so. which would barely be noticeable. but every little bit helps, especially for a race car or for free.

a carbon fiber bumper may be stronger than fiberglass and lighter than the stocker, but its not gonna hold up to everyday driving like a stocker/urethane bumper does.
