My poor 95

What do you think a 95 GT 5.0 with a good engine and trannyshould sell for. The body was perfect until someone hit the very tip of the drivers fenderand it shifted the frame towards the passenger side. The inner support structure is okay. the car just needs to be put on one of those frame straightening machines. I really want to fix it if I could get someone to help me. I love my car! It's pretty fast. Any thoughts about this?

frame damage? ughhh.....not really a safe car even if it is repaired.....pull the motor and tranny for something else, and move on.

Posted by: bullitt5177

Agreed. Sell the body, and put the engine and tranny in a four banger Fox.

I don't think 95' GT's are all that expensive. Sell the good parts and buy another one. Didn't the insurance cover this though?

Don't forget that the frame is only a subframe. That means that the frame does not run the entire length of the car. It only goes back so far and then it is only sheetmetal (floor), and you can bet that that sheetmetal got bent out of shape.

The frame is only bent but you still think it would be unsafe? How much do you think I can sell the motor and tranny for? Its also has a perfect interior, both doors are in perfect condition as well as the back fenders, trunk and spoiler. It's got stainless steel exhaust and both front fenders are good. The hood is easily fixed. I really miss my car.

Dont count the car out yet. Frame damage CAN be repaired, and if its done by a quality shop, you wont have any issues. My car was hit hard, bent BOTH frame rails. Now its all fixed, and you would never know it was hit without a carfax.

Why not buy a 94-95 V6 Mustang for short money and have everything transfered over???

The frame can be repaired but may be cost prohibitive.Any time you get into structural work on an older car you can most likely buy another car for the cost of just repairing the existing one you have.

yea my first car, '86 camaro 5.0 slid into a metal sewer drain in the snow and ruined the unibody underneath, it was estimated well over 2 grand to fix it even though the car still looked almost perferct. i only paid $900 for the car in the first place. I decided not to fix it, then found a '83 gt 5.0 for $200 that was sitting for a few years after the owner had died. That stang was sick, tons of mods.

Id say forget it, take out the engine, trans, etc. if they are still good and transfer them into something cheap like everyone else is saying. It will end up costing less most likely, and you wont have to worry about wether the frame is unsafe or not.

Of course not.

E-mail me the pictures. I am an insurance appraiser and can hopefully see if the frame damage is serious enough to warrant dumping the car.

Light frame damage is far less expensive to repair than pulling a motor, tranny, suspension, wiring harness, and all the associated components.

Who actually told you that you have frame damage?? Do you have pics you can post or e-mail me??

Posted by: mustang tina

I don't have any way to post pictures. No web cam, digital camera or scanner.

The car has been sitting since February?
You didn't have insurance on it?
How do you know it has frame damage?

Posted by: GearHd6

I'd bring the car to a good frame shop like Xerxeese said and get an estimate, you may be surprised. Some veteran frame guys work quick and the price reflects that. Dont chalk it up as a loss yet.
