Got my x-pipe, any tips?

Any advice on getting the bolts from the exhaust manifolds off? they're pretty far up there and it doesnt look like theres much room....got the bolts off (They all snapped, LOL) up by the muffler end of the stock H pipe, but didnt get to the other ones. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated!

(BTW its a bassani x pipe...got it for 100 bucks

)

fuckin aye! those fuckin nuts wont come off the manifold studs! spent 12 hours today and an hour last night trying, had about half a dozen people including Scott (Bullitt, and thanks again for coming over to help...sorry we werent in my garage where it woulda been a pleasant 60* inside with lots of light, LOL), and we couldnt get the fuckers to budge!

No problem man. I only got annoyed the time my fingers went numb (well, that and the 120 people all standing around and not contributing anything).

Pound them with Liquid Wrench or whatvr you have and/or heat it up a little. Working in the cold sucks.

Oh, but some anti-sieze on them when you put the new one back on...

luckily i'm in my heated garage, otherwise i'd just say fuck it and pay to have it done

Do you think I might be better off getting one of those craftsman nut splitters and just cracking the nuts in half, putting new ones on when I'm done? thanks,

You could try it. Just clarifying, you snapped the head of the bolts that are holding the midpipe to the manifolds?

And yes, get new bolts and put anti-sieze on for the new pipe, you'll thank yourself later if you have to take it off again.

went out to the garage after work with a nut cracker from Sears, turned on the radio to WAAF and they have that death metal hour from like 11

0-midnight, so I was listening to that sorta music....
still couldnt get them off
I think I'm just gonna take the car to an exhaust shop and pay whatever they charge....I was quoted between 50 and 80+ dollars but its hardly worth my time and effort any more...as it is I've got 40+ dollars invested in tools I bought trying to get the fucking things out....

oh my god i am having flash backs...good luck buddy you will need the biggest bottle of PB blaster out there, an acedalyne torch and an air gun

i had the same problem when i did myLong tubes. We ended up cutting the goddamn manifold becuase the bolt was stripped and not moving

The exhaust shop actually had to cut my studs out and replace them.
