I said I wanted 3" tips and they ordered the complete flowmaster system which included the 2.25" tips. Anywase, the tips are factory mounted to the flowmaster tubes. Is their anyway that an exhaust shop can cut the 2.25" tips off and replace them with 3" tips? 2.25" is really to small for my car since I have all the aftermarket stuff which makes my car appear larger than it really is. What do you all think? To small? Posted by: BIGJ of course they can, thats easy for any good muffler shop to do....NO SWEAT...NO WORRIES! Posted by: Mustang5L5 Yeah any good muffler shop should have an air=powered tailpipe expander. Should be an easy job Posted by: Rick Sample Thanks guys, wasn't sure since the tips and tailpipes came in one piece. Posted by: Rick Sample By the way, do you guys think 3" tips would do it or should I go a little larger? Posted by: OldFart Quote:
First, measure your openings, then do a web search on "SS Exhaust Tips" and have a look at what is available. There are hundreds of tips that will fit your application. Since you have square cut-outs in the rear valence you may want to go with a square tip. It all comes down to personal choice as just about any muffler shop can make just about any tip fit (within reason). I installed Borla 3" x 4" double wall, oval, slash cuts. They follow the valence opening and I like the way they look. If you want to go even larger, the installing shop may need to extend the rod that mounts to the exhaust bracket (that is attached to the tailpipe or muffler at the rear valence). But this is also a very simple task for any muffler shop. The whole process should last less than an hour from the time they put it on the rack. Mine were done in 30 minutes. So use your imagination and enjoy. Good Luck, OldFart Posted by: Rick Sample Thanks everone, I'm might wait till next season and go with the Cervinis Stalker rear bumper with the square tips. I've always liked the way that bumper looks. What do you all think? Posted by: bullitt5177 Well, it's on a really bad Disgustang right now, but the bumper itself doesn't look bad. Personally though, when I see square exhaust tips, I think Camaro. I say get some 3.5" round tips, like someone I know.

Posted by: Rick Sample One of my buddies actually has it on his car. IMO it is one of the best rears made for the 94-98's. Here's a photo of his car: Posted by: BIGJ I'd go 3.5 Posted by: bullitt5177 Rick, let me see if I can dig up a shot of the back of my car. 3.5" tips look right at home. Posted by: bullitt5177 Ok homeboy, I got this shit!! P.S. Ignore the dirt, it was just before a deep clean.
Posted by: Rick Sample 3.5's do look pretty nice! I'd have to measure to make sure I could stuff them in the exhaust cutouts. It'll be a toss up that's for sure! I was actually planning on getting a new bumper anyhow. Cheap fiberglass, look at the left side of my bumper compared to the right. That bumper is the only piece on my car that looks out of place IMO Ford Mustang Archive Home | General Tech | 5.0 Mustang Tech | 4.6 Mustang Tech | 3.8 Mustang Tech | 2.3 Mustang Tech | Classic Mustang Tech | Appearance and Sound | Virtual Body Shop | Initiation | The Lounge | The Showroom | Site Suggestions | Mustang Talk | 2005 Ford Mustang | Ford Lightning | Racers Bench | For Sale | Wanted To Buy | Northeast | SouthEast | Central | MidWest | West Coast | NEBOC
