I was wonderin what the complete Mach 460 system is made of. I read something about 6X8" speakers and 10" subs, but where and how many? I have a vert also, so the rears are on the side instead of by the rear window. 2. Does the stock head unit allow for input of 1-2 more subwoofers? because I really would NOT want to change the 6 disk in-dash. I love it. 3. I want big bass for low cost. Im planning on buying ebay subs for $300-500ea. I want to go with 12" or bigger with maybe a custom box somewhere (not trunk) maybe in between the rear seats, painted orange. I see that there are 12" W7s with 3,000 watt and 13.5" but only like 1,000 watt... would the 13.5s give bigger bass? or should I stick to the 12s? 4. Should I go with 1 or 2? Im thinking 1 would do, unless someone has a reason why not to go with one. If it's just one right in the middle, balance would not be an issue and should be plenty of bass, right? 5. Where would you put a box in a vert? I can't put it in a rear seat delete kit because of the top and I don't think you'd get the most out of it in the trunk. Plus I wouldnt want it ruining my new sequential taillights back there. I also don't want it to be permanent to where it can't be returned to stock, unless it's something sick like actually built into the back of the rear seat. I will take pictures of the interior as soon as weather permits (big snow storm right now) and maybe someone could help me out with a photoshop of a custom box in between the rear seats to see what it would look like. Thanks for any feedback. Posted by: BIGJ http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/despeeds1.htm Posted by: ZAXJAX I have two 12's in mine! I have the vert with the Mach stereo. My 12's fit fine! Posted by: 1969Vette could you please post pics of where or how you mounted them? The W7s are pretty big... I dont know where to put them. and they plugged right into the back of your stock mach 460 as extra subs? or did you replace the 10s? edit* ok, I just read the link, thats a good walkthrough, although im not a pro with electrical and Id fear screwing things up with the splicing and all... anyone with pics of a vert with subs... not in the trunk... please post them, Ill do a search also. Posted by: 1969Vette actually... this is what I meant by "12"s ![]() haha, j/k, I wish... Posted by: badass98svt go to www.flemworld.com and click on "mach 460" ALL the information you need is in there. i know most of the facts but this site will tell you everything you need to know. Posted by: badass98svt btw i have a 12" solobaric in mine. it's all the bass i need, and then some. lol here's the box i made for it. the pic is from when it was in my last car (97 gt). but it's in my cobra now.
Posted by: 1969Vette thanks for that pic badass... but doesnt stuff rattle alot when its in the truck? it did in my '95 stang. I was thinking about putting one between the rear seats or right behind the center console just in front of the rear seats. I just dont know how I would do it, how the box would look, or if there is even enough space for a 12" W7. do you guys think it would sound better where I am saying rather than in the trunk? any pics of custom boxes in that or similar location? its a vert, or else I would get a rear seat delete... but you cant fit subs in a vert rear seat delete because the top has to fit back there. please help as it is getting close (a month or 2) before I will really be driving it fairly regularly again. I also want to have it well before I have my vacations this summer so I can enjoy it alittle while I cruise around. Posted by: Jimbo_Jack dude just throw it in the trunk its gonna sound fine. All my friends have 12's in the trunk and i like them. Youll get all the sound you want. but if you dont know what your doing i would suggest a local sound shop. Thats wat i did because i have no clue the sound of a car. Posted by: Cody1774 a 12" W7 would rattle like crazy in the trunk. The truck is the best place for sub, they sound best in an enclosure like that. I suggest you Dynamatt your truck to reduce all the rattling. A W7 will sound amazing! I am thinking about getting one 10" for my car! Right now I have 2 10" MTXs, but if I dont get the W7 then I am switch the Kicker Solobarics out of my truck and putting them in the stang for sure. http://www.mmxpress.com/dynamat.html edit: Even if you dont' dynamat, it will sound great in the car, but the rattling and such will come mainly outside... trunk, liscence plate, etc. Posted by: badass98svt if you make sure the trunk is tight, and the license plate frame or spoiler dont rattle(put double sided tape on them), you won't have any external rattles. as far as the bass sounding better in the back seat...no way. Bass is a non-directional requency. meaning you can't actually tell where it's coming from. it travels through walls and rear seats with no problem. putting a sub box in the back seat look "mickey mouse" to me. not to mention you lose your room for passengers. plus everyone can see it, in the trunk it's hidden so less likely of it getting stolen. also, putting the bass in the rear seat would most likely be overpowering. it would muffle out the highs and mids quite easily. Posted by: 1969Vette i just checked and theres only like 3 inches behind the center console, definately not enough for a 12" sub... not to mention a custom box... i guess the trunk is best with dynomatting all around. I have a fairly local sound shop that ill check out, but it will probably be very expensive going through them... thanks for the replies Posted by: lbf03roush2 Quote:
Posted by: TorchRedSVT Just like Jake said: http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/fcar/despeeds1.htm is your only option with out ripping everything out as for the W7...you wont have enough room for it anywhere but in the trunk, and i do not believe you have room for two of them I have two tens and they take up a good portion of my trunk Posted by: jesse98 just because you can fit 2 W7's in there doesnt mean you should, you wont have enough air space, i doubt in a vert youll have enough air space for one W7. Most people think they can buy a good woofer and throuhg it in any old box and it will sound great, the box is just as important as the woofer or amp in a system. I suggest if you have a vert go with a 10W7 and the biggest sealed box you can fit in the wich probably wont be very big in a vert. But youll get better results this way. We have people buy Diamond subs at the store all the time and through them in truck boxes and wonder why they sound like ass, yet i can take one 10" and it is the loudest system some people have heard, its all in the setup and box Posted by: jesse98 Quote:
$300-$500 each isnt low cost, if you want just as good or better than a W7 look at somthing like a Adire Audio Brahma or a RE XXX they are cheaper than a W7 take less power to get as loud and will are just as good if not better than a W7 in Sq and Spl.
