My question is do they really work, he insisted that they do. I dont believe him here is a link to one of the adds. It seems like a gimic to me. He has 2001 mustang bullitt. The tranny is a manual also. I am very interested to no we place a bet of 10.00 so please be honest. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Intake-Speed-Chip-Mod-Ford-Mustang-Cobra-Probe_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQitemZ80335 93687QQrdZ1 or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-Power-Performance-KIT-Chip-Module-V6-V8-GT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQitemZ80348265 49QQrdZ1 or http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-Mustang-GT-88-98-99-00-01-02-03-04-05-Chip-Module_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33597QQitemZ8034 580038QQrdZ1 Posted by: langod My guess is that they're crap. Look at the cars it says they'll work for. The first link says it's for Mustang Cobra, Mustang GT, Mustang v6 and Probe? Not to mention that it's covering 2 completely different Mustang V8s (5.0 and 4.6) and at least 3 different motors for the Probe. (4-cyl, Turbo 4, and 6 cyl) I gotta imagine that those cars have SIGNIFICANTLY different Engine Management parameters. I call BS on these products.... Posted by: Mustang5L5 Nope, Only chip worth a damn is one you custom burn when dyno-tuning. Posted by: bullitt5177 Agreed. HP has never been, and never will be cheap. Save your money. And, what number is your friend's Bullitt? You should tell them to check out this site. Great info and they're trying to get all the Bullitts "registered".
Posted by: Mustangkid O man I just orderd a JET performance chip for my 5.0.. I hope it works. When I get it the machanic whos putting it in has to change the thermostat to a different kind and adjust the timing because thats what the company says to do. The chip wasnt cheap either. Posted by: -Mike- If you want a chip with a noticable difference, prepare to invest $275 or more. You can't just plug and play as one low price chip can not be the solve all and do all. I think it is 1862# I will let him no. Posted by: BIGJ its all a crock-of-poo! the old saying.....if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is Posted by: traffic142 If you got a 05+ GT, go to bama chips for a tune. He rocks. Posted by: Cody1774 interesting. Getting a chip installed was recommended to me to be one of my next mods. So you guys feel just getting the car tuned is a better way to go? Posted by: langod I think you may be lost in the lingo. "getting a chip" and "getting a tune" are more or less the same thing as long as your not talking about the cheapo "one size fits all" chips mentioned at the start of this thread. When you get a Dyno Tune, the price (usually) includes a getting new chip along with enough dyno runs to maximize your hp/tq. "Getting a tune" could be either a Dyno Tune as above, or buying one of the handheld tuners like the SCT or Diablosport. I believe there are other ways of getting a custom tune (via mail-order), but I'm not familiar with them. Perhaps someone else could chime in..... Posted by: Cody1774 Quote:
Posted by: langod Diablosport and SCT are the two most common. Both companies offer hand-held programmers and replacement chips for Dyno Tuning. The hand-held programmers "performance" tunes are essentially the same. They're both fairly mild tunes that should give you about 10hp. I have the Diablosport Predator -- I like it. But I got it mostly so I could change my gearing. I will probably be upgrading to a custom dyno tune at some point. Posted by: Prafopi in addition, DiabloSport and SCT have both taken very different marketing approaches form one another to differentiate themselves form one another. DiabloSport has firm tires to virtually all of the major engine bolt-on parts makers and provides tune for all of them. From CAI kits to superchargers DiabloSport has Predators with special part numbers with special firmware with tunes included for the particular product brand installed from the DiabloSport factory. Until recently SCT has always taken a different route preferring instead to have customers buy an empty SCT XCAL tuner and then buy a tune from the SCT dealer of your choice. But because there are so many shops that bought into the SCT Advantage Tuning Program the market was now flooded with a zillion "custom" tuners even if they didn't have a dyno! So these dealers needed to differentiate themselves by creating value for their shop's brand. Planning also to get a GMC performance chip for my friend from this dealer.. Anyway, once they were established and had a chance test out the stock tunes supplied by SCT in their Advantage tuning program they started to sell some popular items like CAI kits and suppling their or "custom" canned tunes for free as part of a bundled CAI/tuner package. SCT is not stupid and their marketing people need to make their sales goals so they came up with the Strategy Tuner from SCT. Basically this is a crippled XCAl with some pre-installed tunes for popular hop ups. Posted by: badass98svt Those Ebay chips are junk. Also the Jet chip that tells you to advance the timing... That's where you will be getting the increase in power from. Posted by: MCRPARTS Just buy a blowa and solve the whole problem....right PJ

Right Tony....Now, if only I could afford one. If you ever have access to a free 96-98 4V blower, then give me a call! But I don't need to tell you that.
