hey i dont know too much about cars, i just started getting into the fast car scene and i was wondering if anyone would give me suggestions on what to buy for my car to increase performance on a lower budget. i would love suggestions that have alotta bang for their buck. thanks for any suggestions
EDIT: i am looking to increase my torque (dont know too much about cars if you couldnt tell)

well you can get new exhaust and cool air intake for starters then underdrive pulley's and a turbo or something of that sort

Posted by: Houston1243

ok, thanks. it has a cool air intake (not sure what brand, because the car was bought used through my dad, just know it is chrome)

Posted by: Jimbo_Jack

lol many CAI's are chrome but yeah i would get exhaust

Posted by: Houston1243

figured that, but since my dad didnt think to ask he doesnt know the name brand

Pull a motor and CPU from a 99 + and swap it in. In 99 Ford went to a split port design intake . Previously they were single port. I believe there is somewhere around 30-40 hp difference, and this will also increase the effectiveness of future mods as well.

how much do you think it would cost to do that?like a ballpark

All depends on how much work you do yourself, and how much you get the motor for. Minimum, doing all the work yourself, under a grand. Maximum, well, depends on the mechanic you ask to do the job. You dont HAVE to replace the entire engine, just the heads on up. work wise its easier to swap the whole motor.

ok thanks i will consider it, any other suggestions??

All I've had experience with is exhaust and cold air intake. Neither of them really add a lot of power but you can tell a small difference. Other than that...I couldn't help ya lol

We do have a member here (kissajew86) who has a turbo on his v6. Not sure how much his setup was though.

Your number 1 modification should be a set of dual flowmasters! Their is nothing better than a nice little rumble! Doesn't add many ponies though!

thanks for all of the help

i was wondering if a bbk underdrive pulley kit for 154.99 is too expensive

Posted by: kissajew86

a cheap torqey mod is a set of 3.73 rear gears, since your car has 2.73 it will make a HUGE diffrence...i would do that first...

gears are 200 bux, install is 3-400, and it is recomended to get a t-loc to add at the same time, it helps keep tration on both wheels instead of one wheel burn outs..they are about 200

my turbo setup was in the 5 grand neighborhood after the fuel and tuning and other mods that were neccissary....

my total mods add up to about 8 grand or so....

haha i dont have that kind of money, but i am jealous of ur mustang

You could always get a kit from ASP for around $100 bucks. I'm not sure which is the better brand though!

Curious. Have you tun the 1/4 mile, and if so, whats your best time.

And do you have any dyno numbers ?

Posted by: kissajew86

i have not done a 1/4 run. In order to get a good run i would need stickey tires and i only have a7.5 inch rear end...im sure it would break....

i dynoed at 353 rwhp, i belive it is in the dyno post at the stickey at the top

http://www.muscle-mustangs.com/forum...ead.php?t=3167

sorry, here is the dyno

as you can see when i get a good tune it will be better, i am hopeing i will have left over $$ from taxes to do some work on it....

Very nice, Ever considered Methanol/H2O injection ? Might help you hit that magical 400 HP mark
