I recently purchased this coupe which needs restoration. I plan on keeping it a 6 cylinder but would consider an engine swap to another size 6. Do you have any suggestion as to what would be the best swap? I plan on driving it on the street but would like to have a sleeper.

i would get the 289 v8 nifty little suckers they are. v6's arent really sleepers they are slow

thanks for the input but I'm interested in a straight 6 swap not a v-6.

In 67 Ford did not have a V6, all 6's were inline. Another "gray tech" note.

I have no idea if it can be shoe horned in but the 300 cu. in. six could be a real sleeper if you can get it in there. They are pretty good on torque and I would think pretty cheap to buy used. They last forever as well. There are also aftermarket parts for them. I think this could be a unique car done this way.

my 67 had the 200cid inline 6 with a 3 speed. it was pretty slow if you ask me. this is why i bought a worked up 289 w/ T5 trans. i knew a kid back in HS who had an old nova with a straight 6 that he had worked up quite a bit. it was a nice car, and for a 6 is moved nicely. he had dual flows and custom header pipe made for it. he has since then swaped to a mildly built up 350. i have never sen a worked straight 6 in an old stang..would actually be pretty cool to see how it would run.

Thats the kind of info I'm lookinf for,I wonder what the buildup was? Also does the later model 250 cu in drop right in with no modifications. I know they were standard in 1969.
