Have the engine and tans, what car?

I have a 460 and automatic trans out of a 1971 Ford F 250. Both have been rebuilt and are very strong. I also know that I need a Big Block car.

I am looking for a donor car for this set up.

What year Mustang would be the easist to put this combo into?

The reason I am staying with the auto is because it is what I have already.

Going to a manual trans is an option in the future.

Thanks in advance!

Jack

How much fabricating experience do you have?

Between the three people helping me, quite a bit. I have one that welds very well.

I want to keep the welding and modifications to a minimum though. I also know that we will have to cut and grind to keep the auto because I want the shifter on the floor.

Cool, sounds like you have the resources.

The 67 - 70 Mustangs could be had with a 428 or a 429 and should be able to accomodate the 460. The 460 and 429 use the same block. You would think the 71 - 73 Mustangs would be big enough but I don't remember them coming with anything bigger than a 351, but then again I am not a Mustang authority. Any Mustang after that will require fabrication most likely including firewall work among other things. Also the older Mustangs were built with thicker steel so that helps some with rigidity in a unibody, but of course you will still have to do a lot of beefing to the chassis.

I saw engine mounts for putting a 460 into a fox body Mustang at Summit Racing so evidently there may be more parts for the swap.

Thanks for your help.

I found a 1971 Mustang Grande with the 302 in it for cheap so I am going to buy that.
