Has anyone purchased one of these turbonators? they advertise it giving a modest hp boost along with better gas mileage, but its only sixty bucks and that seems too good to be true. and i know they have testimonials on the site but i would feel better hearing it from one of you guys.

I've always heard that they don't work but that has always just been peoples opinions. I've never talked to anyone who has actually purchased and used one. If you get one let us know how it does...I'm curious

Their's a vas variety of opinions. I've read on multiple forums that people did notice a gain in HP and MPG and others were very disapointed. I guess it just depends on the make, model, and other performance parts you have. I've also never talked to anyone with this modification.

I may get one of these next year when I attend a Dyno meet. I will install it between runs and see if the claims are true.

Stress on the word "MAY" hehehe

speed is not cheap.....never has been never will be......

.....unless you just jump out of a plane....you can go pretty fas that way....but the stop is really a #@$@

****back on subject****

almost every person i have heard from (that knows about engines) has stated that the theory beind that unit is it swirls the air and produces a more even a/f mixture in the cylender....

....some porting guys design their heads to produce this effect...

the problem with that theory (again stated by everyne i know that knows about engines) is that the swirling is taking effect WAYY before the cylender, and by the time the air has split amongst the runners in the upper intake, run through the lower intake and through the head, valve and into the cyclender head ALL SWIRLING EFFECT IS LOST.

now the question is how can we get reports of increased MPG and power?

well there may be several reasons
#1) those reports are all plants and there is nobody that has really benifited...
#2) when people install the unit they leave air leaks wich cause a lean condition which would produce more hp and better mpg.....
#3) when people install the unit is alters the sensor reading (maybe by moving the placement of sensors, lenght of intake, ect) that cause a lean condition which would produce more hp and better mpg.....
#4) it is magic

i have 2 Spiralmax intake twisters on my car. i can tell you that it works. now it doesnt give you a whole lot of hp, but you can tell that it works. i have one at each end of my intake tube. to have just one, you cant feel much but 2 you can. it felt the same as when i put my ud pullies on.

Yeah there's a reason people buy turbos and superchargers, because these shortcuts don't work. I have no personal experience but Turbonators are usually a running joke.

3.8steeda - I would love to see a dyno with the units in, and a dyno right after that with the units removed.....I have always been extreamly sceptical of these units, i do not see how they could work, but would love to see the before and after.....

i dont have any dyno sheets on the car as of yet. im right in the middle of dropping in a late model 3.8 motor with a rv cam in my car. as soon as its in i want to get it dynoed.
