I finally found someone that is gonna help me with my exhaust and any other mods that i want done. This guy is really great. He even measured my engine bay, and asked if i wanted to put a 4.6 in my car OMG, i said , then i would no longer have a V6 and couldnt relate to my buddies on the forums. Quoted me around $3500. Think thats a good price? I could probably sell my engine to make up some of the difference. lol. I'm just thinking right now. I've done some computer work for him,so if i do more the price might come down. So, what do you guys and gals think? Turn my baby into a V8 or stay V6?
Posted by: Jimbo_Jack just buy a v8 it would probably be better and v6 have there owne little specialty to themself keep it a v6 and buy a v8 if you really want it Posted by: Rick Sample Glad you found a mechanic! However, to be honest and if your V6 is running great, I'd just stay with your V6 and invest about $3,000 into it. With that kind of money, you can easily make your V6 faster than a stock 5.0L. After you get up to the power of the 5.0, just keep adding on year after year and you'll soon be above the power of the 4.6L! A 3.8 thats faster than a 4.6, now thats something to brag about Posted by: ExBamaGal Quote:
You also need to take into consideration that with the v8 swap you're going to have to upgrade a lot of stuff on the v6. For instance...the suspension. You're adding a heavier/bigger motor to a car that's not set up for it so there is a lot more to it than just taking one out to add the other. That price he quoted you sounds great but I'm betting it's just for the motor swap. It basically boils down to what you want which is all that matters. Just keep in mind that it may cost you more than you think.
Posted by: kissajew86 it would be hard to do a 4.6 swap for 3 grand you have to replace tranny, motor, computer, rear end, exhaust, gauge cluster, brake booster.....AND MORE it isnt as simple as just dropping the motor in.... then you have insurance issues.... Posted by: Wolfey Yes, thats what i said. To be honest, i kind of like my V6. I am thinking down the road that i want a classic convertible anyways. I'm just going to do a few mods on this and wait for my dream car to bite me in the A**
