Cop's have given me a couple of looks. Here is Wisconsin just about every car/truck has a front plate. Mac Posted by: Donna Just another way to distinguish a V6 from a GT. Posted by: Rick Sample Do you have the V6 with the license plate or the GT without? Up here in Ohio, if your car has the brakets for the license plate, you must have the plate attached or you could get pulled over (depending on the cop that is). However, if you bought a car without brakets or installed an aftermarket bumper without a braket like I did, one isn't required. I know, its pretty messed up. Posted by: MCRPARTS Quote:

This is incorrect. If you are an Ohio resident your car must have a front plate. There are people that have not been stopped without one yet, but their time is limited. The law requires there be a front plate on every automobile in the State. I know this because I asked the State since my Mad Max car won't have a provision for one. When my boss got his 06 GT the front bracket was shipped loose in the car. It was to be installed (holes drilled in the front facia) in states that require it. Otherwise it is a way to give people that live in state where no front plate is required a clean look. Steve Posted by: Rick Sample Quote:
I'm not sure where I got that information from (I think I called the local police office and asked our body shop owner) I'm sure they both said only if your car has brackets and a cutout in the bumper, otherwise not required! Posted by: Aussie XAXB I found this on the Ohio Highway Patrol site.... Is a front license plate required on Ohio-registered cars? Yes. Failure to display a front license plate on an Ohio-registered car is a registration violation. http://www.statepatrol.ohio.gov/FAQsequipment.htm There are no exceptions listed. Here is a site where you can add your name to a petition to have the front plate requirement abolished. http://www.petitiononline.com/ohplate/petition.html I signed it some time ago. Steve Posted by: Rick Sample Well if they want me their gonna have to pull me over and take me to court! I'll fight it every step of the way, too! I only put 200 miles on my car a year driving it to shows, their isn't any way in heck that I'm putting wholes in my front bumper Posted by: Mac I finially checked with the Wisconson DOT on the rules here. If you are issued one plate it goes on the back. If you are issued two plates, one in front and one in back. Simple, but who gets issued which? Ford dealer had no idea, of course, that there even was a difference in the front bumper. Mac Posted by: Aussie XAXB In Ohio everyone gets issued 2 plates. I know what you mean Rick. I have no plans to put a plate on the front of my Mad Max car when it is done. It will be inaccurate and also screw up the look of the front end. Besides, I figure how many people around here are going to have a car just like it? I mean, everyone will know who's car it is, you know? One thing I plan on doing, besides for the good it may do, is see if I can do anything with our local DARE program with my car. That will get me in good with the officers in my town too. Steve Posted by: 1969Vette yea, this is a stupid law, cops barely see a front plate anyway, they follow behind. Also, how hard is it to find an orange mustang!!!! haha NJ also requires it, but Im not putting it on my new Saleen bumper when it comes. I'll mount it on the side of my windsheild... which they might not like either.. but we'll see. Anyone know if there is also a petition like the Ohio one for NJ? I signed the Ohio one. 1. No requirement for front plates. 2. No emissions checks. 3. It's not illegal to have a radar detector. 4. No snow or salted roads. 5. The sun shines most of the time. 6. Winter happened last week - I think it was last week, when it got below 60 degrees. 7. You're almost always within a hour of the beach, regardless of where you live. And yeah, I'm bragging. (And yeah, we have hurricanes, which is why I dont' live on the coast and just go visit Grandma in another state every time there is one.) Sorry for hyjacking the post. OldFart Posted by: 1969Vette I was thinking of moving to florida one day. I don't know if the no emissions check is a good thing. It's cool, but not good. I like how its always warm, around here you almost lose half the year because its so cold, noone wants to do anything, you cant work on or even wash your car, etc. Winter sux Posted by: Rick Sample Quote:
It just isn't Christmas without snow!
Posted by: Rick Sample An alternative to a front plate is the hide-a-way frame. Neat ideal for those that have been sited or have been pulled over for not having a front plate: http://media.putfile.com/licenseplate Posted by: Aussie XAXB Well now there is an interesting tidbit!! Wouldn't it be cool to put the plate back up as the officer is behind you and pulling you over? "What? Of course I have a front plate!" Steve Posted by: 1969Vette yea thats definately a sweet system he has rigged there... they should make a kit.
