4.2 / 3.8 heads

I know that the 4.2 and 3.8 are essentially the same block. My question is are the heads the same. I want to do things in stages, and one thing I want to do is high flow heads. I would like to do this before converting to a 4.2 block from an F150. but if I cant swap the heads over, I would be throwing away ALOT of money.

yes heads are the same, for 99+ on 4.2 vs 3.8

Same exact heads, and as for porting, even a 4.2 with Mustang intakes
does not require "killer" flow, and can easily use stock valves. The intakes
themselves are the big bottleneck when you go to a stroker.

If you want, I can recommend porting procedures or what "level to buy"
from the shop of your choice. Self porting is a good idea as the porting
needed is quite simple for the NA 4.2, most DIY'ers can get there.
