Is this all i would need for dual exhaust? Is this also a good price? $187.00. Do i need to buy catbacks also?

Posted by: Wolfey

AWW cmon guys, someone answer me! Please.

Posted by: PerformanceRed

With that set up, you'll need a crossover pipe (either an H or X pipe) and exhaust tips. Some go the route of not adding an H or X pipe but to me it doesn't sound as good. I guess I'm the answer man for you, Wolfey.

Posted by: kissajew86

with that exhaust you hve a couple of options

1) have an exhaust shop cut of your y pipe and weld that setup on
2) get aftermarket h pipe from rpm mustang, with or without cats, here http://rpm-mustangs.com/cart/home.php?cat=275

I don't have cross over pipes and mine sounds great!! Still have the cats too.

Wolfey, before you order anything you should probably go to your local exhaust shop and price what they can do. They have all you need there to get you set up

Posted by: Wolfey

Now I'm getting somewhere. lol That pic helped me a lot. Guess i'll be heading to the muffler shop. NO not Midas

Hey, what did you pay for your setup?

Mine ended up being a total of $375. That's with 3" tips and labor included

Posted by: Wolfey

Well, heres the deal. I went to the only 2 muffler shops in my town. Monroe muffler looked at me like i was crazy, and said he couldnt help me at all. I said "excuse me, you don't or can't put dual exhaust on my vehicle?" He said, thats right. I said, you are a muffler shop right? He said, i cant help you at all. Imagine that! A muffler shop that only does mufflers no exhaust. So to make a long story short. OOPS too late. I ended up going to Midas. Well, they quoted me $500 - $550 To do it. That isnt including the tips either. They said they were quoting me high, but if it took less time, it would cost less. So, anyone think this is a good price? Oh they were putting flowmasters on, and were talking about going to a 2.25 pipe. I just don't want to get ripped off. I know the guy at Midas from work, and he knows what he's talking about. I want it done right, just don't want to get ripped off on price.

Seems a bit high for an exhaust system without tips. My exhaust came with regular stainless steel flowmaster tips, flowmaster mufflers, installation, and tax and it came out to about 400 or so I think. A set of dual flowmasters are only 350.00. Thats the complete kit, mufflers, pipes, and tips.

See what they would charge if you bought the complete kit for 360.00 and gave it to the for the installation. May be cheaper that way since the complete flowmaster kit already comes with tips. If you have to buy tips extra, that'll cost an aditional 100 bucks or so.

Posted by: Wolfey

I thought that was high. I tried to tell them that i knew someone i knew got everything installed for $350. They werent going for that though. I might just try one other place and see what they can offer me. If not, guess i'll go back and ask them about me buying the kit and them installing it. NO WAY am i paying an additional $100 for tips. I'll just tell them that they have to include it in the deal.

Posted by: kissajew86

yeah that is high, do you have a mom and pop shop around there?

Posted by: ExBamaGal

Definately high...and my tips were only like $27 each I think. If all else fails look into that kit on ebay (as long as it fits your car) and see how much they would charge for installation. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for it.

Posted by: PerformanceRed

Wow...I only paid $230 for everything installed with an H-pipe (that's including the price of the Flowmaster 40s). Good luck!

Posted by: Wolfey

You guys are killing me I just checked out cole muffler. They wont touch the cats at all. They said they could put another Y- pipe and run the duals that way. I'm going to have to go out of town. Wish i had a mom & pops place around here. I'll ask one of the guys at work, he used to be a motor head.

Just do a little calling around and I'm sure you can find a shop that'll install a complete flowmaster kit for around 350-400 or so. You may have to drive a little wase though. When I checked around, I ran into your situation. I had to drive about 40 min to drop my car off at a custom shop.

Posted by: Wolfey

K guys and gals, heres the new idea! I was talking to this guy, and he said why dont you go off your cats to 1 muffler with 2 exhaust pipes. would this work? I know its not true dual exhaust, but its an idea. Seeing as how everyone want big bucks or wont touch my cats. I'm thinking it wont give me a great sound, but then again what do i know. I heard it on a ford truck. It sounded okay, but then again it was a V8 lol

Posted by: ExBamaGal

My husband had this done on his truck (v8) but I've never heard it on a v6. I don't see why it wouldn't work though...just don't know how it would sound.

Posted by: Wolfey

Yes, thats what i'm afraid of. I dont want it to sound bad cuz its a V6.

Check out this thread and see if there is one set up like that. Most of them have sound clips you can listen to...might help a little Careful posting on that site though...lots of immature people and leg humpers

http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/showthread.php?t=65566

Posted by: kissajew86

ARE THEY LEG HUMPING MY QUEEN!!!
I MUST HURT THEM!!!

V6 wont ever sound like a v8, but with the right combo you can get a pretty good sounding system, just look around for sound clip, im sure you can find what you want

Posted by: PerformanceRed

I think the best sounding would have to be with a Borla exhaust setup.

But for the price that it is, I don't think it would be worth it on a V6.

At texasmustang.com they have a bolt-on setup from ford racing for $380. And I would say from ford racing you could probably put it on yourself, or get a buddy who knows how to tac wield. And if you check this guys ebay store, fastautosports, he has magnaflow for $460 obo.

Posted by: Wolfey

Yes, bolt on would be a possibility, however, i heard they loosen constantly, and you have to tighten. Can you get stainless steel in bolt on? Can you weld boltons?

yeah you can wield any exhaust togeather, it just needs to be tac wielded on, it dosn't have to be wielded all the way around.

Posted by: PerformanceRed

Wolfey, so what happened with the duals? Did you get em?

Posted by: ExBamaGal

Paging Wolfey Come on, I want to know what you ended up doing

Posted by: Wolfey

Okay, heres the deal. I don't have the duals yet. The good news is i get my clothing allowance check on 10/14, and with that i can afford to get my exhaust. I also found a guy that will do anything i want to my exhaust. He is a small time garage and his wife does the window tinting. So, can you guys guess what my next mod will be after my exhaust? Wish it was the 14th.

Posted by: ExBamaGal

Awesome! Can't wait til you get it all put on. You'll love your car so much more lol
