I am turning 16 and looking at buying a mustang. I am wondering what kind of problems I will run into with a engine this old (even if it has been rebuilt) the engine is a 289 V-8. I have pictures if that will help in any way. Thank you!

The only thing you need to worry about is the usual wear on any engine. If it has been rebuilt and has not been beat to crap you should have no problem, of course you also may not know exactly what the engine has in it performance-wise.

What you will NOT have is any computer problems. These engines are far more simpler and are not prone to the problems that modern engines have. No fuel injection troubles, not sensor malfunctions (only a temp and oil pressure sensor) and electrical problems are far easier to diagnose. You also will not have any emissions problems because these cars are exempt. Not sure about California though. All in all there are far less things on the car to go wrong than a modern car. That's one of the big reasons I like them. Also a lot more room for working on the engine.
