68 Special Lights

I have a 68 California Special that I cannot get the tail lights to shut off, including the license plate light. I "stabbed" the receptacles in the trunk and the brake lights and turning signals appear to ok, as the plug-ins energize when the brakes or turn signals are applied. I also disconnected the light switch and they are still on. Additionally, the dash lights are always on as well. I am not sure where the cables go once they leave the trunk, do they come out under the dash. I have a fat head (haha) and cannot see under the dash to well. The problem just arose, and worked fine before. I would appreciate anu suggestions or thoughts please. Thank you ahead of time for your response.

I'm sure others can help with this question... If it were me having this problem I would go out on Ebay and do a search for als4406cuda .... this guy sells all kinds of info manuals... I got the wireing and the body manual for my 69 Mach 1 and the wireing one for my 67 Cougar.... all of them were well worth the money spent.

This isn't an advertisment for the guy.. but the guy has a good source of tech manuals for these older rides...

Of course.. someone here should be able to help as well....

I agree that the best option is to obtain a wiring schematic and start plugging away. Tried the local Ford dealer, but they only went back to 1994. Thanks for the advice.

Does this car have a aftermarket radio in it? If someone has installed another radio they may have tied into the blue wire with a red tracer and hooked it to a hot 12 volt wire causing the circuit to be energized at all times.

Thanks for the advise and reply. I was able to "finally" find the problem. It was in the Fog Light switch what became shorted. It took me forever to find the problem, but all is well.

Thanks again
