Posted by: StangFreak Quote:
Whats going on Speedtrap!! I'm new here, I have a light blue 2005 Mustang V6.. You must have bought the Automatic.. I have the 5 speed, and I been smokin 5.0 mustangs since the first day I bought the car.. Have you dualed the exhaust yet? My car sounds better than my old 1988 Saleen Mustang.. LOL!! Its also faster... The Automatic is pretty quick, but I think most people have mis-understood Fords new philosophy!! The V6 is where it is at.. They can sell them for less money, so they can sell thousands more than the GT.. Everyone thinks my car is a stripped GT!! LOL!! It looks crazy, I have really fat tires on it, which it needed, because the rear wheels spin very easily.. I'm not sure if you bought the 5spd, but if you didnt, I am so sorry my man!! The glory of the Stang lives once again inside the V6 as well!! How many of you out there, have heard a Dual Exhaust 2005 V6 Mustang with FlowMasters? Have you driven it? I think this is Fords best kept secret.. My car sounds nuts!!! And is fast as hell... Yes, it is faster than my old 1988 Saleen Mustang... Just so you can all feel comfortable with my knowledge, I'll start from Highschool.. These are the Stangs I have owned.. 1. 1984 GT 350 5.0Liter H.O 2. 1988 Saleen Mustang --Black 3. 1993 Cobra Mustang 5.0--Red 4.1966 Mustang 289 Hi-PO with 4spd, fully restored 5.1995 Mustang GT 5.0 Liter--Red--Last year for 5.0 6.2005 Mustang V6... So based on this list, I have owned all V8 mustangs up to this point.. Why would I buy a V6? Because when I install this Paxton Supercharger with 8-12psi, nothing will even come close to it! LOL!! Kind of a long first post... I'm sorry guys!! Posted by: KrazyPony Well as I understand it, the v6 is equivelant to the 01 v8 GT's? Posted by: StangFreak Quote:
Whats up KrazyPony!! Nice to meet you... I'm not too sure about the 01 power.. However, I know if I ever catch one at a stoplight, he better not be stock.. He better have more game than just a stock GT Stang!!
Posted by: KrazyPony hey man, lay off the power trip on the bigger power you have going, you must be rather young from reading your post! Good luck on your performance mods though... Speedtrap, I would think the normal Dual Exhaust Upgrades and CAI would help ya out. Posted by: StangFreak Quote:
Posted by: Donna StangFreak I am not bashing you, but you obviously have not posted on many forums. KrazyPony did not insult you........I know of a few other forums that what he said would have been considered very mild. As for h.p mods all I've done so far is installed a K&N air filter and I could tell a little power difference and definantly better gas mileage. Posted by: KrazyPony I was not insulting you in any way or fashion, but just asking you to calm the higher v6 power down a tad. It is great that you love your car as much as you do, no shame in that...thats what its all about, to love and embrace the ford heritage. I think I would look into dual exhaust, not sure but MAC has made the best sounding exhaust on v6 I think IMO. And I am sure some other manufactors will start coming out with more like a O/R H pipe for them, CAI Kits and so fourth! didnt mean to upset you, just was reading your post from what was typed
Posted by: 05mustang I just got a 05 mustang V6 and i was wandering if anyone had anything that could help me make my V6 sound like a bad ass V8 LOUD!!! Posted by: Nazz You v6 guys crack me up,Thanks...
Posted by: firestang70 Love the new stang! Love the Gt and the 6cyl! I'm buying a premium 6 with a manual tranny. The 4.0 is a nice 6 cyl, no matter what exhaust I put on it, it will never sound like a v8. I like the MACas well and flowmasters are always nice. If you look in the 4.0 specific you can find sound bytes for different exhaust set ups. as much as I like the 4.0 it still does not have the torque of my previous ponys 86 CapriGS, 89 GT, 92 LX, 94 GT all 5.0 5spd and 99 Z28 6spd. 6 lovers don't let the 8 guys ruffle your feathers. Their cars can't run with LS1s or LS2s yet.(not bashing the new Gt just dont have the cubes to get it done YET). Long live the Mustang! Posted by: OldFart Quote:
The V6 has had minor and inexpensive modifications: K&N air filter, stainless flowmaster muffler with a stainless, round-oval, slash-cut double wall tip. The round-oval tip looks great as it follows the contour of the bumper valence. With these minor modifications the V6 runs GREAT!!! Although we have not run head-to-head (and won't) my impressions of the V6 is that it winds up much faster than the V8 and really needs larger than stock tires as it is almost too easy to break them loose. Out by myself, in a deserted area, I hammered down and smoked the stock tires through 1st gear and the first part of 2nd. The best part of the exhaust changes is the sound - it's wonderful. The closest I can relate it to is an Indy car. Hard acceleration or blipping the throttle for downshift produces a tight sweet note that is a joy to the ears. (And no it sounds nothing like the usual cat-fart rice burners.) Other mods that are easy is the MMR V6 cold-air intake (available on Ebay for not too much) and rumor has it Superchips is comming out with a custom flash program for the V6. Since Superchips HQ is about 10 minutes from my house, I'll run over and let you know what I find out. If we make any further mods to the V6, I'll have it dyno'ed and post the results.
Posted by: twebster72 Actually I believe the 05 gt is putting out 267 rw hp as reported several times by Superfast fords magazine in dyno pulls, stock, without mods. Unfortunately I have not driven a V6. I have heard they are pretty fast though. Posted by: Jimbo_Jack *sigh* i just found this post and a v8 ownes a 6 anyday just because a v6 is not a muscle car IMO! even though i drive a v6 Posted by: OldFart Quote:
It has been well documented that a supercharged 05 V6 will blow the doors off of nearly anything other than a supercharged 05 V8, and the V6 will still have a few thousand on the table over the V8 after the mods. My son is saving his money with the intent of supercharging his 05 V6, and I'm really not looking forward to it since I've spent a ton of money and a lot of time getting the most out of the V8 without going to forced induction - and his V6 will out horsepower and out torque my 05 V8 as soon as the supercharger is installed. Now that is really going to bite. OldFart Posted by: zstang Modified V6's are pretty sweet. With some minor mods (see my list), it'll run like a bat out of hell. And with a good true dual exhaust, it'll sound pretty darn good, for a V6 that is. So, have fun with your V6, make a few changes if you wish, and you'll definitely notice more power. Then get a good, custom tune, depending what you do. (I'm enjoying my lil'o V6!!!) Posted by: Aussie XAXB Man, for Stangfreak being 34 years old and having skin that thin he is going to have a hard time getting through life. I think the new Shelby C6 supercharged V-6 Mustang is just too cool. This is a beautiful hue of blue and the accents stripes are great. 350 HP, a slightly lighter car, the correct gearing, and all the other things like the Baer brakes and such, what a wonderful car. ![]() I would imagine performance could be similar by dropping a supercharger in and reflashing the ECM. I also like that Shelby went with Paxton just like in the 1960's. Steve Posted by: Mustang5L5 Quote:
Nope. I've raced several '05+ V6's with my '03 GT. It was when they first came out and the newness of them all was still on everyone's mind. They are quick, but they couldn't hang with my stock GT. The 4.0 makes pretty good HP, but it just doesn't have the same 300 ft-lbs of torque as the V8. Modded though, well that's a little different. A Modded refrigerator could beat a vette ![]() I have test driven several too. Seems everytime i went to drive a 05+ GT they never had one but were dying to put me in a V6, so i drove em. Drove a red '05 and a Tungsten '06 w/ pony package (looked real sharp BTW) I wouldn't go out on a limb and say they sounded better than a V8, but they sounded okay. Speedwise it didn't really do it for me. Just not enough torque The salesmen crack me up. Seems they are all trained to say "Did you know the 05+ V6 has more HP than previous GT's?" Yes....the 1982 GT

It's actually a German-built engine. Ford simply gets them and sticks em in the cars
Posted by: Jimbo_Jack its doesnt matter driving a v6 isnt really driving a muscle car think is shelby would have put a v8 in that car it would have much more hp and torque...keep in mind this is my opinion...v6 doesnt put enough muscle in a car Posted by: Aussie XAXB Quote:
It's still a Ford plant in Germany. Can't remember the name but it has a real good quality record and a few months ago celebrated manufacturing their 2 millionth engine I think. It was something monumental like that.Steve Posted by: Mustang5L5 Nothing really new for Ford anyway, the Automatic is French-built and the 5-speeds are built in Mexico. The Cobra motors are hand assembled in Italy. No such thing as an "American made car" anymore. Every Major car maker is basically "global outsourcing". Posted by: Mac I'd love to get my hands on one of these "little" 6 bangers from down-under. They really have some fine Ford's down there. Double over-head cam 4.0 with a turbo, rated at 362hp (converted from their measurement of 270kw)http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.440 Mac Posted by: Mustang5L5 I'd love an Australian Falcon! DOHC 5.4L with a T-56
Posted by: Jimbo_Jack i like the falcon ! Posted by: bullitt5177 Stock 05 V6s are rated at 210 HP. Stock 01 GTs are rated at 260 HP. 05 six bangers are pretty quick for six bangers, but the only GTs that they're faster than, stock for stock, is an early 80s. Stock fox bodies only had 215 HP, so that could be a driver's race. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Quote:
225HP and 300 TQ Get it right!! ![]() Considering Fox bodies are almost 20 years old, most are not as quick as they were when new. Most ran low to mid 14's when brand spanking new, now the stockers are lucky to get high to low 15's. Of course, stock Foxes are rare these days. My Fox went 14.6 bone stock about 5 years ago. Of course much has changed
Posted by: bullitt5177 My bad. I thought that early SN95s had 225, and fox bodies had 215. Must be the other way around though. Posted by: Mustang5L5 It is the other way around. 1985 the 5.0 had 210 HP and 275TQ....about on par with the new V6 although a far lighter car. Posted by: Aussie XAXB I'd love to have one of the new Aussie Falcons. There ws talk at Ford about making them available here but I don't know if they would be imported or built here. Haven't heard anything in a while. I like the Aussie Falcon Ute too. It could be sold as a Ranchero here. There was a commercial online for the Magnet version of it, as in "babe magnet", but it had metaphorical imagery that probably would not be allowed on American TV. Sure was cool though. ![]()

1. Cold air intake - plenty of them out there now. Just be sure and get one with a shroud for the filter (or an airbox) to insure you're not sucking in hot engine air. 2. Duel exhaust - you can pick-up a full, exhaust manifold back, GT exhaust take-off system on Ebay for next to nothing and then have a local muffler shop install it. And you'll be getting a pretty darn good stainless steel system with tuned mufflers that should do wonders for the V6. 3. Custom tuning after the mod's - this will not only insure you are still running the correct air/fuel ratios but the tuners will get even more performance out of the mod's. Beyond the above, you could always pop for the Paxton supercharger kit developed for the V6. But be prepared to throw even more money at the car if you go this route. When you increase Hp and Torque that much beyond the manufacturers original intent, you will find the next weakest link. Like the clutch, maybe the gearbox, for sure the brakes, suspension, etc. The list could go on and on. So my best advice is take it easy and just drive and enjoy the car - because once you go down the road of extensive modifications - it never seems to end. OldFart Posted by: Jimbo_Jack i dont think the falcon should be a 4 door Posted by: Mustang5L5 Why not? The Charger is? I don't mind the 4-door thing. There is a Falcon pick-up truck Posted by: omega67 I'm a first time poster and a new Mustang owner. You didn't make a mistake with the V6. I wanted a V6 premium coupe pony package in Performance White with the red interior upgrade package, but through a quirk in the Ford ordering system the pony package is not available with the red interior upgrade (!?!). So I ordered a V6 Premium Coupe with traction control, ABS, the spoiler and red interior all separately. The only missing items were the fog lamps and rear sway bar. My Ford dealer is great! They added the rear sway bar, real H pipe dual exhaust with the GT rear fascia, front GT fascia with fog lamps and side GT fascia in Perf White, and GT tires and wheels. To top it off I had them add red LaMans racing stripes. This is a much better alternative to the Pony Package - I love this car! It looks great, sounds great and really turns heads. It's a blast to drive! 40 years ago I bought my first new car, a '66 Mustang GT. I'm back Posted by: freakatthewheel that sounds awesome omega67. welcome back!
