1977 mustang 2 gas tank

ok, i recently bought a 1977 mustang cobra 2. We went and filled it up but we filled it up to the top, until it shut off, and we noticed gas purging itself or spilling once we started the car. Is this normal like an overfil purging system or is my gas tank have bad seals or what. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot

I'd keep an eye on it,and if it happens every fill,its gotta be a whole. If you need to replace it post and we'll pull some resources for you,so you can get it replaced.

it does not happen every fill, only that 1 time when we completely filled it up and might have over filled it. but just tryin to see if there was an overflow, thanks alot
