Are there any 4 bangers in here?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: stangjunky77

just wondering.

Posted by: drummerstang98

I had a 4 banger Ford Probe before

Posted by: Just_A_Neon

I have a four banger...one that'll out run a unsuspecting GT

Posted by: drummerstang98

I've test drove those SRT-4's before, and they are a tad peppy being stock

Posted by: ipsd

I've got and 84 T-bird Turbo coupe, 85 couger XR7 turbo 4 banger. if you've got a 4bangin ford you should step on up and turbo charge that thing and make those V6's & V8's cry because they just got waxed by a 4banger. These cars run like raped apes. Here are some pics of my motor the first day it was in the car. after the rebuld and the full energy suspension bushing kit install.

I had a 4 banger 93 Mustang about 4 years ago!

Posted by: Rick Sample

Anyone wanna jump start this section

Posted by: CSC

well i dont think anyone is going to...im only 16, and i had a stang (not now) never had a 4 cylinder...but my has has a 96 mazda protege, its alright, needs some engine work, and new paint...but other than thats its alright (not a stang tho)

Posted by: Rick Sample

I dunno, I think 4 banger stangs are becomming less and less though. Just because no one takes care of them anymore and besides the fact that they don't even make em'

Their are a lot of nice turbo 4 cylanders though. Gotta get some of the 4 banger guys from stanget over here. That place is packed with 4 bangers!

jump start

ya know I'm just messin with you.

I find it funny busting out those comments tho. Everyone screams it's just a Neon (hence my s/n) but it's funny when it holds its own fairly well.

Hey, I guess I joined this forum.. I have been an Italian car nut fo ryears but got tired of always fixing em. I bought a couple of 92 Mustangs.. both of em are 2.3's One is a sedan and the other is a convertible.. Is it worth the effort to try to make these things a little more powerful ? I sure like the way they look and handle (except for performance) my old Fiat and Alfa would beat the pants off these stangs. I am trying to do the patriotic thing and buy American!

Also I seem to have tranny problems already with both of these cars... anyone know of the history of these trannies?

thanks !

Welcome to the forums!
I actually think it would be just as easy to go and buy a GT of your year! Don't get me wrong, I've seen some pretty quick 4's, but they have invested thousands upon thousands to get them faster than a GT. If your just looking for a little more power, stick with the 4 and mod it little by little, but if you really want a noticable difference, get a GT and mod that

Posted by: 88vert

Hey guys, just joined the site. I got a 88 Mustang LX. Its a 4 banger, so im not going to spend all that money to make it fast. Probably just some small modifications.

Rick what kind of simple and cheap mods can I make to the 4 banger? I have heard of turbos and stuff. I dont have a lot of knowledge on this. Are turbos expensive to buy and install? forgive me I am a beginner when it comes to this stuff
thanks

My husband has a 4 banger Subaru WRX STI that runs 12.7 in the quarter, he has a long way to catching up with me!

Posted by: JohnnyZ

I have a 4banger for a daily driver.

2.3L N/A 1990 Hacthback

Posted by: GearheaJLM

Does any one want a 2.5L 4 banger and tranny? I'll sell the one out of my Ranger, it should replace a 2.3 no problem. See, then that would be a lil more excitement in this forum.

Posted by: roush360R02

I own A Roush 360R, mitsu eclipse, and a SRT-4. Eclipse is the fastest, then roush, then the neon... the only one stock is the Roush.

Posted by: lar1311

I know somebody with the same car as you except its black..

I would like to second this question... if there are any takers for answering it. I have a 91 Mustang LX 2.3L Short of buying a more powerful vehicle, what kind of cheap and simple mods can be done? (Please include rough estimates on cost)

I'm not quite sure how that topic fits in the 2.3L Mustang section... but okay. In response, I would imagine you could get some. Depends on how much you want.

Posted by: Tony2000

one more 2.3 member, but unlike previous comments about the 4 cylider is like screwin with a condom... come take a ride in mine... i think you will be pleasantly surprised... especially when my 2.3 pumps out as much HP as a 96-98 GT, and weighs less...

Posted by: carazystang87

hey hows it going ?? I was just curios I live in British Comlumbia canada , and I am having troubles finding those emblems (2.3L) where did u happen to pick them up?????

[/quote]

Posted by: Rick Sample

Hi we sell those emblems, let me see if I could get you a part # and a photo

Posted by: Rick Sample

Ok the Part # is LRS-16228AB and here is a much better photo:

Posted by: 88vert

Heres mine, i wanna get a 5.0 soon...

Posted by: 94gtstang50

Jumpstarting this one again, my 88 lx is currently an n/a 4 banger. Its a real pos that wasn't taken care of, I got it cheap with a blown cylinder head. Replaced that, the water pump and did all kinds of other bs to it this past summer. Still needs body work, paint and some interior stuff. Its still slow, but its fun to drive w/ the top down. Got a spare t/c motor to drop in it this summer.

Posted by: Iwillstangurass

I will post some pics of my work. She was rescued when a tree in the hurricane wilma fell on her. so I gave her mouth to exhaust and she is cummin along all the time.

Posted by: 81maroonhatch

i have a 81 stang that had a 2.3 but has v8 now

Posted by: vamp89

I have a 87 mustang 2.3 bought for $300, and an 89 GT some nice mods

Posted by: Tony2000

well got rid of my 92 turbohatch.. bought a 89 vert. for $800. it needs some TLC... little work on the front end, new top and of coarse a turbo swap. i'm gathering all the parts slowly, and this one i am looking for 350-400 to the wheels with. gonna port the head, big vlave upgrade, FMIC, convert to MAF, Stinger header, 3" exhaust..etc, etc, etc. gonna paint her Competition Orange with a bright white top and black interior... gonna be a fun car hen i'm done with her...
