I want to put an SN95 style steering wheel in my 5.0. UPR sells an airbag delete kit so i won't need to spend $400 for an unneeded airbag to fill a hole. I just don't know if it matches the 94-98 Black color or the 99=04 Dark charcoal color wheels. Since i have dark charcoal in my '03, i'd like to see some 94-98 black wheels...leather wrapped from a GT or Cobra preferably. Thanks Posted by: LILBLKSNAKE You can come by my house anytime you want and see mine. Posted by: EastCoast5.0 There are some pics of the FR500 wheel under the "customer product images." http://www.americanmuscle.com/fr.html Posted by: badass98svt This link has some good close-up pics Posted by: Mustang5L5 Pretty sure the fr500 wheel is dark charcoal. My fox has black interior, so not sure it will match up well. Kinda why i am leaning towards a 94-98 wheel Posted by: badass98svt I thought the FR500 was black. hold on one sec..... http://www.svtperformance.com/forums....php?p=6227342 Posted by: EastCoast5.0 Yea I think it's black. Mike, look at the last picture. It looks darker than what looks to be charcoal interior. The description describes it as BLACK leather as well. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Interesting. I was thinking it was part of the whole black/dark charcoal confustion everyone has. I'm buying a cheapo v6 wheel for now off ebay. It'll be under $20 shipped, but i need to know if it will fit before i go through with buying a wheel. Fr500 wheel is $170 and the delete is $80. I know it's a lot of money, but I like the SN95 wheel and can't stand aftermarket wheels. I'll prob buy a used GT or cobra wheel. They got for $20-40 typically. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Geez...the way i'm going onkly a matter of time before I have a thread like this
Posted by: badass98svt I just checked the 2008 FRPP catalog I got (compliments of Tony). It's listed as "perforated and smooth black leather". There's always been the damn confusion between Black and Dark Charcoal. Like, read this thread. these asshats don't know a damn thing about what color it is. http://www.3.8mustang.com/forum/show....php?p=3583159 Posted by: badass98svt Quote:
DO IT!!! The only thing that sucks is the door handles. Posted by: Mustang5L5 Lol, well ford doesn't make it any easier. I have a 2003 Mustang brochure here. For interior colors, it lists BOTH Dark Charcoal and Midnight Black. Dark Charcoal was in the GT's and V6's and Cobra, but if you get a Mach 1, you have a "Midnight Black" interior. They show a color swab, and the only difference is the perforations in the Mach 1 seats! EVery Mach 1 i've seen has the same damn interior as my GT other than the seats and Mach 1 touches. Same damn color! Posted by: Mustang5L5 If i can find a cheap 01-04 Dark Charcoal dash and console..i'll scoop it up for later. I've got other stuff i need to do first. I need to convert to 96+ Hydroboost brakes as well...for future plans Posted by: Mustang5L5 Kick ass!! it does fit! And i get to keep tilt!
Posted by: badass98svt hey, where did you get that? Posted by: Mustang5L5 Not my car. I found it over on corral.net Posted by: badass98svt Just noticed you wrote "get to keep tilt" i thought you wrote "i get to keep it" LOL Posted by: Mustang5L5 Ok...so I bought a black wheel from a 94-98 Cobra. No airbag though. We'll see how it matches up Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 Quote:

I haven't gotten it yet. It's on the Fedex truck/plane as we speak. I'll let you know when i get it and shoot some pics of it. Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 Quote:
Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 have you received this steering wheel yet? Posted by: Mustang5L5 Nope, it will be here tomorrow. Coming from Cali so it's been taking it's merry time

Posted by: Mustang5L5 Darn it It shows expected delivery date of Sept 6th, but doesn't show any updates of where it is after the 4th?
Posted by: Mustang5L5 I'll have it today. Fedex shows it out for delivery now. WOW, Fedex is slow. They picked up the package Aug 29th and it's finally getting to me Sept 9th? I've ordered two other things since by fedex and they got here in 4 days tops Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 Quote:
Posted by: Mustang5L5 So what do you want to see on the wheel? What are you looking for exactly? I'll take pics tonight. It's been delivered Posted by: Mustang5L5 Not sure what areas you want me to focus on. Part number on the wheel is F4ZC-9D780-AA. Unfortunately I don't think it's a Cobra wheel. I think Cobras have thicker stitching. Wheel is in amazingly good shape! The leather looks new. I prefer the feel of my leather wrapped wheel in my '03 as it's a little coarser, but overall it's a 9 out of 10 i think Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 DUDE!!! THATS THE FREAKIN' STEERING WHEEL I NEED!!!!!!! Awesome picture, it details the connection for the cruise control plug that I needed to see, its definitely the wheel that I need for my Mystic Cobra. Give me a call tomorrow, 401-683-8301 and maybe we can figure out a date/time to meet and exchange steering wheels. Like I said, if you agree to, I can trade one of my other black leather steering wheels for this one that you have. Both of mine are in comparable condition to the one you have. Don't worry about the thickness of the steering wheel being different than a Cobra's steering wheel; the only difference between a GT wheel and a Cobra wheel is the airbag; horse on it for a GT, "COBRA" wording on it for a Cobra. thanks!!!!! Joe Posted by: Mustang5L5 Cool, i'll give you a call today. We can either swap wheels if they are in the same shape or even just swap the cruise control components if that's what you need. My 5.0 doesn't have cruise, so i just wanted some dummy cruise switches for show. But i'll call ya later. Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 I'd actually need to trade the entire wheel for wheel with cruise buttons. I've got two black leather wheels that I'll show you when we meet up; one has both cruise buttons, the other has one cruise button missing but the leather itself is in excellent condition on both.
