Hi guys.... I want to do the garage floor this fall, but I don't like paint, it peels off in the winter. What is an inexpensive product that is durable and will last forever?? LOL Hopefully something easy. Does anyone know anything about the stuff you toss colored chips into??? I have seen it at Home Depot, just not sure how durable it is. Sorry, I have no idea what it's called.

I have always wanted to get those rubber squares that lay together and form a checker pattern...i'd like to do them in black and red to match the cobra. Just have never had the time to clear out the garage and lay them all down.

I went with the polyvinyl garage floor mats and love them. They install in about 10 minutes, work great, and last forever. Mine are 4.5 years old and are good as new. It took us 20 minutes to sweep out the garage well and unroll two of the mats and get them flat. Zero maintenance since, except for walking out a minor wrinkle or two each spring. They aren't the cheapest thing you can do, but they're great, and sweeping them off takes about a minute. I recommend the ribbed over the diamond or coin pattern because it's much easier to sweep off.

Thanks for the link.. I really like the checkerboard one they have, but that one gets expensive fast. Well, in the long run maybe it's not that bad, considering you don't have to do any maintenance to it, and if you move you can disassemble it and take it with you. Not that I plan on moving, but one just never knows. OK, I'm rambling here. Thank you again.

I've never used it (no garage ), but i understand that the "stuff you throw colored chips in" is pretty good. I believe it's a epoxy-based paint, so it should be extremely durable and easy to clean.
But, based on a similar types floor coating we have at work, it may get slippery if it gets wet. Is there a texture additive you can get for it?

i did my basement at the old house with that stuff from HD. it cost me about $80. and the floor was incredible. it got wet and never had a problem being slippery. i used it because we had water problems and it was the only stuff that would hold up. i plan to do my garage at this house with it as soon as i can. i just havent had time yet. Jay has seen the old basement and can tell you how good the stuff was. not to mention it went over all the old glue and crap that i couldnt get off the floor and it still held great. you should do it, you wont be dissapointed i can assure you of that. our floor looked like a solid marble slab when i was done. i cant say enough good stuff about it so im just going to stop typing now. you ge tthe point.

I just recently started using a piece of old carpet for the garage attached to my new house. I can't keep my G/F's old Chevy from leaking oil... I should of just parked it outside lol.
