Ok, for anyone with a 86-93 Foxbody that has a 5-6 PSI or a 8-10 PSI Kit, We figured out a great install tip that will keep you from pulling the hair outta your head as I did. LOL

When you install the charger on these cars, head unit, bracketry ETC.The Vortech directions tell you to (on the long top altenator bolt) to install it from the rear bracket forward, meaning that you take that rear plate that holds the smog pump and alternator and push the bolt into place then install the alternator and front bracketry,so that when your all done the nut for the bolt screws onto the front bracket where the fan and radiator are.

Ok so what's wrong with this ? If your alternator goes you can't slide the top long bolt out and drop the alternator down, because it hits the block. Our alternator went on our show car so we had to put it on the lift, sawzall the head off the old bolt, and pull the shaft out from the front.

We were able to install the new bolt from the front, and shim it with a washer or two, then put the bolt on the back plate where the block is.

We also had to shim the short bracket to reach the new 130 AMP alt.

The whole process took about 1 1/2 hrs on a lift. Hopefully this one saves somebody,it's a pretty good heads up.

Definitely a great tip.

Haha, I did the same thing. My alternator blew a few years back and I couldn't believe I had to take the whole bracket assy. out to replace it. I put in a stock unit as a quick resolution until my 130A unit got here, but when I did the swap I was able to have it in within a couple minutes

Helpful if you blow up an alternator, helpful is you end up upgrading, etc.
