Images off?

Rick,
Maybe this is an option that I've missed, but if not, is there a way you could add code that would hide images in a thread once you've already seen them or if you hit the "read new message" button next to the thread title?

I don't want to turn off images globally, but once I've read a picture-heavy thread 2 or 3 times, and I just want to see the new messages, I'd like to just skip to the new messages without waiting for all the images to load. (even on a fast connection it can be 30 secs or more.)
For instance the "greetings from carlisle" thread in NHMC would be an example; lots of picture at the front end of the thread, but not so much at the end.

Funny, I was thinking the same with that thread. Lots o' great pictures, but once you've seen them, it sucks having to wait.
