Jammed CD Changer

How do you un-jam one of these fancy 6-Disc changers? Keeps getting "no disc" error when there are discs in it, can't load or unload anything.

Basically, if anyone has a schematic on how to take out a 2003 GT head unit, I can probably figure it out from there. Maybe.

Pop off the shifter trim, just pull out on both sides. Pop off the radio bezel doing the same thing. I believe there are two or four 8mm bolts holding the radio in.

2 bolts it's easy as hell.

Shifter trim out first, then the radio bezel trim.

If you disconnect power and then reconnect it may "reset" and kick them out.

this used to happen with my old car almost every day....no need to take the head unit out.

the easiest way it to stick a credit card in the disc slot and push on the CD from the top( you'll be able to see it in the slot) and it will spit the disk right out....you can use a credit card on top or bottom but you risk scratching the CD that way.

won't take much effort, and actually at one point i had saved two of my old AAA cards and kept em in the center console for when this happened.

good luck!!!

I don't think he's having a prob ejecting them. I think the prod is the unit doesn't see the CD and reports "NO DISK" like when you try to eject an empty CD slot.

I do the same trick and keep a business card in my center console. I hit eject and put the card in the slot on top and the CD comes out every time. I think it jams onces every 10 ejects.

However since i got Sat radio and my Ipod..i don't even use my CD player anymore. I don't even know what CD's are in it. I just use the Ipod mainly.

I"ve actually been trying that, but now I can't see the cd's at all, just the "changer" parts. I read somewhere that if you take the head unit out, there's a switch-type-thingy (Very technical aren't I?) that will spit them all out.

Taken from a thread on another stang site:
Pull the radio out and remove the screw on each side and the 2 on the back. Pop off the cover and you can see the CD's. Partof the CD changer may have not fully engaged the CD it wanted to play and it is stuck not knowing what to do. Press on the CD that so that the part that spins the CD is locked into the center of the CD. Leave the top open and plug in the CD player. It should start going through all of the cd's then if the CD error is gone it will play again.

That should at least fix it for now.

Thanks for that! I saw that before somewhere, and then no matter how I googled I couldn't find it again. Thanks a lot!

I had a similar problem when I bought my Stang. It was one year old and I had problem ejecting or loading CDs. I took out the unit and replace a rubber belt and cleaned the rubber roller. Problem solved since ( 4 years ago)

good luck on this, I had that problem when I was trying to get my CD's out when my car was totaled and lost all my cd's
